Does anyone know if they sell SimCity 4 Deluxe for the PC in the Yongsan Electronics Market? How much would an English version run me? I've got an itch to play for some reason and don't want to deal with having it shipped over from home.

I have one that I might be willing to part with. I haven't played it in quite a while, and don't have the time anymore to really play it.

thanks for the info. i found it on steam, but i've never used that site before and it seems like the game will only run in conjunction with the steam interface?

Yes and no, but steam isn't a big bad monster. Steam is very lightweight and includes an offline mode. You can run it offline after you buy it without needing to connect to steam.

I almost always buy my games through steam these days it's pretty damn handy.

if you have a credit card from back home, just set up your steam account and use that. The first time you pay you might have to send a support ticket to get them to unlock your account (they have a security feature for people making purchases out of region to protect them) and then you should be okay. I had to do that when I first came here.

That's really interesting. I've been wondering about an easier way to get games over here. I'd love to just (pay to) download them, but there are usually so many region restrictions.

I don't know if it works if you make the account here. I can't comment on that. I had my account for a long time before I came to Korea so it was already set up. When I got here, no payment would work. Credit card and Paypal automatically failed. I e-mailed them and they told me it was a security thing. I had a Canadian account using Canadian payment methods, but my IP was suddenly in Korea. So they provided an unlock but told me that I'd have to request it for each purchase. In the beginning that was fine. You could also save it. So request an unlock and it would stay unlocked until you made 1 purchase. That went on for about a year. I made 5 or 6 purchases over the year and requested an unlock each time. They were pretty fast about it. After about 1 year, I decided on a whim to check the "save payment details" check box and since then, I've never had to request an unlock again. I've made several purchases now without requesting an unlock. I've now put together a new machine and I'm going to try and make a purchase and see what happens.

[edit]
just pre-ordered fallout: new vegas. The payment info is saved as part of their system, it isn't a cookie on your PC or anything. So after you get the unlock try saving your payment info and you should be fine to buy anything you want at any time.

Here's the site I use for pay to download:

http://www.gametap-shop.com/

I've never really looked into steam much and I don't know much about it so I don't know how the prices compare. Gametap is pretty straight forward, no software to run or anything. You buy something, they send you an email with the CD key and download link, thats it.

Set up the account while in Korea with no issues also.

If you want it, it's yours for 15,000 won then. Let me know if your download doesn't work and you are still interested.
