Historians admit to inventing Ancient Greeks

Quote:

"Honestly, we never meant for things to go this far," said Professor Gene Haddlebury, who has offered to resign his position as chair of Hellenic Studies at Georgetown University. "We were young and trying to advance our careers, so we just started making things up: Homer, Aristotle, Socrates, Hippocrates, the lever and fulcrum, rhetoric, ethics, all the different kinds of columnseverything."

I miss walking around DC and picking up free copies of The Onion... Probably the most honest national news source.

That's so true. I have several of the large annual volumes of the collected onion stories, including from 2001-2003, and the coverage of 9/11 and the invasion of Iraq alone provides a penetrating insight into the social and political climate of the times. They are so dense, too. I would definitely recommend keeping them around for your kids and grandkids.

The onion is just so obvious. It takes zero effort to juxtapose things the way they do. It;s the same joke every issue

'We take one thing and then make a joke about it being it's antithesis huh huh huh.'

The Onion - latest Edition front page

'Steelrails, CC and TUM caught in anti Korean chapter of the BNP recruting drive.'
