Kim Yun Ah's mother is her manager. Her mother appointed Michelle Quan's brother in law as her coach.

Kim Yun Ah has become a family business.

Maybe they'll kick him to the curb too, and badmouth him and lie to the press too.

No sympathy. Here's hoping for a short career.

I can't believe I am commenting on a story about figure skating but I always kind of had the hots for Kim Yu Na and so read some blogs about what really happened(supposedly). It's true that her and her mother may have not handled the separation in the best way, but the ex coach did some tacky things himself. To wit:

"Orser committed an egregious no-no by releasing details of Kim's programs for this Fall. Such a move was not only tasteless since he's no longer her coach, but even more inappropriate because he did so without Kim's permission. Skaters like to keep the details of their programs under wrap until closer to the first competition, a strategic move. Even Orser's longtime friend and colleague, David Wilson, was quoted as being "embarrassed" over Orser's gaff"

This is important? At least we now know that getting rid of Orser was a good move. The guy couldnt keep his mouth shut. Who knows what else he did? Kim will be okay now. she will win a lot of medals and make a lot of money for herself and her family. At least she's safe now!!

I don't like Kim Yu Na. I can't put my finger on it but there is just something in her demeanour that gets to me. She is cute. But so are another million or so women from Korea and millions in the world

Maybe because her mom is a controlling powermonger ajumma and Kim herself is a total sell-out.

Unfortunately Orser is free to prey on someone else. Ms. Kim will earn millions and live a good life. Her Mother simply removed people who did not have her interest at heart. Orser was after a payday and when that fell threw he attempted to sabotage the kid. Classy

Your ideas about Orser's motives are pure speculation. In the end, the Koreans exercised their right to not renew his contract. And Orser exercised his right to free speech.

She fired the coach that took her to Olympic Gold medal status. And she did it messily.

Orser has top credentials. His income is assured for the rest of his days he does not need Kim Yu Na any more than she needs him.

The fact that she let her mum do it and then publicly deny that he was ever fired when he was is enough to make anyone mad. I am not surprised he leaked her music or whatever it was.

She came out looking a lot worse than him out of this. In fact imagine if you were married to her. Just imagine. One day her mum comes in and tells you that her daughter wants a divorce. Not Kim herself. When you meet Yuna she denies it and claims that you in fact wanted out.

I can see that happening to some poor lad someday. If she wants to be respected as more than just someone who can skate - i.e. as a real person with wits and personality - then she needs to grow up a bit.

With her millions of dollars she had enough time and resources to find a way to properly end the relationship without it turning into a crap fight. She didn't. Her mother will never change from being the control freak she is but Yun A will never grow up until she starts actually making decisions and doing things on her own.

Nicely said!

I suspect money had a lot to do with the split. I bet Yun Ah's mother truely believes that she is entitled to do whatever she likes with Yun Ah's career and her money. Good luck with that.

This Yun-Ah incident reminds of a some mommaboy athletes. Mostly a guy named Eric Lindros (a hockey player that had to concussion problems). I despise Lindros, he had his mother do his finances until he had to retire. But strangely I still like Yun-Ah, probably because she looks cute in tights.

Yup, I'll second this. She is a self serving C@#t. Her mother runs everything in her life and is her manager.
Her mom suffers from "nothing is good enough for my daughter" routine. Typical Hogwan soccer mom bullcrap.
Did you not see the figure skating show put on in LA by kim's Mother. Yuck!! I had the mothers ego all over it. She kind of ruined her daughters international image right there.

So you call someone out for basing their post on "pure speculation", then you go and do the same thing!
