Hello!
My girlfriend has been offered a job in Gimhae.
I know it's near Busan but I have never been there myself. I was just wondering if any of you guys had any information on the place?
Is it a decent place to work?
Are there many foreigners?
What's the transport to and from the place like (I am in Suncheon, would be nice if the place was easy to get to..)
This will be her first job in Korea, she is currently still in England.
Cheers ladies and gents!

Gimhae is quite a historical city and has many historical sites around the city including tombs of former kings and queens. There are enough museums indoor and out too - mostly along the river area which has just been developed. It has a lot of good hiking trails one of which takes you through sports park that has a 20m climbing wall, shooting range etc. onto an observatory.
It is big enough to have a home plus which is basically tescos - this means you can get a lot of bits and bobs you could in England. Its downtown is not the biggest - but its so close to Busan that it doesnt matter a jot. There are a few foreigner bars restaurants in gimhae. I shouldnt think you would have much trouble meeting foreigners there as there are quite a few. Alot of people like it and stay on. Its quite quiet for a big town.
Its about an hours bus ride from busan proper but a subway line is almost complete which goes from the centre of gimhae to busan city.
You can get the KTX from busan to almost anywhere. |

I'm in Gimhae, it's a pretty decent place to live. There are plenty of foreigners. The previous poster pretty much summed up the facilities, and as stated, transport links are good. I like being so close to Busan and getting to Seoul for a weekend is no problem. |

A light rail rapid transit link will be open soon linking Gimhae, the airport, and Busan's subway system. |

She got the job!
Starts at the end of the month
Thanks for all your help guys! If you are in Gimhae, expect a mental Black & Red haired girl to be terrorising the neighbourhood soon haha!
Cheers again |
