Did you have an interview with the school? What did you think? When will you start?

Yea, the website doesn't give much info in English either.

I'll let you know if I come up with anything.

I didn't have an interview with them but a recruiter sent me the position and was asking me if I would be interested. It seems like its ina pretty good location but its just weird that I can't find any info on it. Did you have an interview with them?

Yea, I did. It wasn't really much of an interview. They told me about the position and asked why I wanted to come to Korea.

They asked if I would be willing to share a room and I said no. Later, she emailed and said I could have my own studio. I have not got an actual job offer though - so I'm still kinda in the dark.

Are you guys gonna accept the position? They told me that there are 10 foreign teachers at the school. You should ask for one of their email addresses and see what they say about the school. I really wish there was some more info out there. Thats weird they asked you about a shared apartment. I've been teaching over here for over a year now and I've never met anyone who has a shared apartment.

They just offered me a job as well. The recruiter said he would send over the contract soon. They asked if I would be willing to share and I said no. They didn't seem to have a problem with that.

We should talk privately about some of this stuff if you want.

I will share any info I get.

My personal email address is [email protected]. Also, the recruiter said he would get me contact info for another teacher currently at the school.

I am interviewing with this school tonight. I also can't seem to find much information (especially since their website is written in Korean). The school seems to pay well and there are currently about 10 foreign teachers there. We should all keep in touch as we find out more. Feel free to PM me! Smile

I just had someone PM me who used to work at the school a few years ago. They said everything was pretty good other than the bosses being a pain in the ass sometimes and that the workload was a bit heavy. Also said that the housing back then was in Itaewon (which is crazy because thats like 20 minutes away).

Seems alright I guess. If anyone emails one of the current teachers will you please let us know what they say? I am really interested to know the working hours (like how many breaks they get and stuff). The pay just seems too good to be true!

In what way were the bosses a pain? Did they uphold the contact, pay on time, etc?

I agree that the pay seems almost too good to be true, especially since this will be my first time teaching in Korea. I'm going to ask for contact info. for teachers currently at the school. I'll let you know what I find out.

kaitikish, would you mind emailing me the contract so i can take a look at it? i've been in korea for over a year so im really familiar with what should be on there and what shouldn't. also- did they tell you the schedule? im thinking that there must be no breaks since the pay is so high. you can email me at [email protected] if you want

my recruiter is setting up an interview with them or next week so we will see...

also, are you guys considering any other schools in the area?

Kaj10- the PM I got from the previous teacher said:

"I worked at SOT sevral moons ago and it was fine back then. They were basically honest, always paid on time etc. I found the working environment to be fine although there was one supervisor named **** that was very unpopular. No idea whether she is still there. Are you dealing with ****? She is a big backstabber and gossip *beep*, but is also tolerable especially if you get on her good side! The work was quite demanding and tiring, but quite rewarding as well. And being in a rich area there were tons of presents, snacks, parties etc that were always a bonus. I do recall that the lunchbreak was very short and there were no restaurants nearby so I was always hungry. Haha.
Most of the teachers get put in Haebangchon (Itaewon) and that's probably why they suggested shared housing as the housing is bigger and cheaper there.
Overall I thought my time there was OK, not great but no major issues."

Hi Jen- My contract gives the following teaching schedule:

Monday, Wednesday, Friday, (9:30-2:15) -30 mins of paid lunch break included, (2:30-6:30)- 50 mins of teaching and 10 mins break time

Tuesday- (9:30-2:15)- 30 mins paid lunch break included)

Option of ending at 2:15 on Tuesday or Thurs. Work till 4 the other day.

Pretty long teaching hours IMO (guess this explains the higher pay)
