Hey people, i'm a brit and believe it or not have never even been to Silverstone but decided to Christen my live F1 experience with Korea's inaugural GP. I'm coming from Seoul and have got a Sunday race day ticket. Does anyone know how I can get to Yeongam and how long it takes? Also, any motels you can recommend as i'm thinking of travelling out on Saturday and staying over till the Sunday.
Any other brits or foreigners alike who are also going wana meet up?

| Oh, and in answer to your question. we are flying from Gimpo to Gwangju (?, i'm not sure yet, i'm not paying!) airport then we are getting a car pick us up from the airport. |

| You may not find many motels in Yeongam....it would probably be easier to stay in Mokpo and then bus out to Yeongam, perhaps there is some sort of shuttle bus. |

the track hasn't been approved yet. still a chance its called off.
also the ticket prices are 150.000 - 1 million won a day.
I doubt they will get many people. also 400km from Seoul is also enough to prevent fathers taking their sons.

Also I don't think there are enough Petrol heads in Korea.
Japan yes. Korea... um, I don't think so..
any racing models going to be there? that might attract some Ajossi's

| If youre trying to revitalise an area, you probably will build stuff there that people want to go to. But 150,000-1mill for a ticket is frankly ludicrous. Oh! to have a korean grand prix with the stands filled with stooped over old farmer women cackling and carrying bags of chilli peppers. |

South Korea (AP) _ The Korean Grand Prix will go ahead as
scheduled this month after Formula One officials gave their approval
Tuesday following a track inspection.
The FIAs technical delegate Charlie Whiting performed the
inspection on Monday and Tuesday, with particular attention paid to
the final layer of track that had been laid at the Yeongam circuit
last week.
It is satisfactory, and I will issue the license through (Korea
Automobile Racing Association), Whiting said in a statement
released by the local organizers. |

anyway, back on topic... 
it looks like KTX is 3.5 hours to mokpo and express buses are about 4 hours at about half the price (W20k), but my information on this is only backwards assumptions based on mokpo-seoul lookups i did on kobus.co.kr - you have to go to easyticket.co.kr to lookup seoul departures, but I'm on linux, and it appears to be one of those wonderful IE-only Korean websites, so I can't see for myself right now.
so, 140k for ticket, plus 40k for round trip bus (with the option of going down saturday and making a weekend out of it.)
OR
cosmojin.com has a deal for 200k, ticket and bus plus shuttle to the actual race. this would be tempting just to simplify things, but the itinerary doesn't look nice: leave at 7AM and arrive at 2PM? 7hrs? even if that's being conservative on their part, 7AM is awful early to leave just to arrive right before the race...

carefulallthetime thanks alot for the info, very informative. I'm not one for buses so will look into the KTX prices. Is it 40K for a return Seoul to Mokpo or is that one way only? It's looking like KTX for me either way - 3.5 hours isn't bad.
To further comment on Seoulmann's comments below, like LL Moonmanhead kindly pointed out PLEASE get your facts straight before writing nonsense on this forum. THE TRACK HAS BEEN APPROVED DON'T YOU FOLLOW THE NEWS????? I deliberately delayed buying my ticket until it got approved on Tuesday!!!! I'm glad negative, ignorant people like you aren't gonna go to the Korean GP. It doesn't need people like you there just hardcore F1 fans who will travel far and wide to appreciate this fascinating sport. 150-1 million won is nothing for an F1 event, don't know where your from but look at ticket prices for other F1 venues around the world and you will see comparable pricing. Sounds like your just bitter cuz you can't afford to go, maybe you should be looking at how you can make more money before crying about standard ticket prices. Again, get your facts straight before commenting!
