Any time I drink Korean beer it makes me nauseous, no matter how much of it I drink it still makes me sick. |
Me too. What's in Korean beer that makes it so nasty? I only drink alcohol infrequently, but when I lived in Germany I drank about 2 litres a week. I had no problems in Germany, but even 2 small glasses of K beer and I have a real headache the next day.
K beer is just nasty. |

I think you'll find that German thrash legends Tankard addressed this very question most poetically some time ago......

Not really any specific foods, I just avoid eating out.
After arriving I really stopped more out of necessity than anything - I'm a picky eater, and the language barrier wouldn't allow me to get the things I wanted, or the way I wanted them. So I just started eating at home. I really didn't change my diet at all, just had all my meals in my own kitchen. Not only did I lose 50 lbs. (23 kg) in just over 3 months, I also felt so much better.
No matter how healthy the restaurant food may be, it can still be made healthier at home. |

Wow, 50 lbs in 3 months that's pretty impressive. Good work! |

Things I avoid:
- anything with artificial sweetener (which is getting hard to do), no thanks!
- lunches provided by my hakwon (one can only consume so many vegetables covered in goo along with fish and corn that finds its way into everything before you go crazy)
- imported beer after I have my buzz (at this point it doesn't matter, so the ideal time to switch to the crappy but cheap Korean brands)
- wine that's been distilled in Korea (the definition of disgusting)
- fish that isn't wrapped in batter English style or served as sushi or raw sashimi (smell of other fish makes me wanna vomit)
- pretty and/or pregnant girls and old or disabled people, everyone else, if you don't move for me, I won't move for you
- taxi's out of or into gangnam during rush hour - any other mode of transportation is much quicker
- Itaewon, the few good restaurants don't make up for all the trash
Those are the major ones I think... |

| I have a few things that I dislike or try to avoid for health, but I find that I do much better if I concentrate on eating healthy foods that I enjoy...kinda like how you can't avoid a "sin" by resolving to abstain, but instead must concentrate on those better things that you want to accomplish, thus freeing your mind from the unhealthy obsession so that the rest of you can follow a path to a better and healthier life. |
