Why is that??? Big ugly tent moo moo dress looking shirts that you could fit 5 of me in, ugly shoes and granny looking/Stevie Nicks clothes...yuck...and so much black, brown and gray...I like those colors, but I like pink, blue, red, purple, etc...as in COLORS! Tokyo is way ahead of Korea when it comes to fashion...hate to burst your bubble Korea...but your fashions are going down...what happened??? And as much as I love Disney, what is with the humongous sweaters with a huge picture of Goofy or any other character on the front? And no, I am not going to wear an oversized t-shirt big enough for 10 people that says "Walking Along" in huge letters...I am sure no one cares if I am walking along... |

Yea, I agree. I like diversity in fashion styles. Maybe it's more prevalent up near Hongdae and the universities? |

Check out the dongdaemun area. While I happen to be a fan of long sweaters with leggings or yoga pants in the colder months, I can also get my fix of cute, tailored dresses. Go on a Sunday and they'll have just restocked. Many of them are open really late. |

Thanks NYC_Gal...I have some of those long shirt/sweater dresses, too...but they are cute and more fitted...not those HUGE ones I am seeing everywhere. I have one of those t-shirts that I only wore to work once...I started using it as a nightgown...I think many guys don't like those things...single girls should dress for guys not other girls..it's funny how so many girls dress for each other instead of dressing for the guys...many of the things girls like, such as really short hair, big oversized, baggy clothes, etc...guys don't like so much. I bet most guys hate to see a girl wearing Crocs too. I'd die before I'd be caught in those things...ugliest shoes known to man-lind, aside from those ugly granny booties and some gladiator shoes...eeeew... |

Talk about cultural ignorance!
'Whoah - Fashion in Milan is so light years ahead of America - lots of fat heifers walking around in cargo pants and grubby t-shirts.'
You guys realise what you are saying is the same as this right?!
Cultural awareness 101 - What one culture sees as fashionable etc is not the same as another culture!
Come on and open your minds and try to really enjoy your time in Korea!
Isn't that the point - that you came here because you DIDN'T want to spend a year back in Kansas Dorothy!?
Why waste your time comparing and complaining!! |

Girls will be girls and constantly compare themselves. To be honest, who gives a s**t what these Korean girls wear? Actually, I don't want to see some white girl strutting around in clothes that are culturally isolated to this peninsula. That goes for the dudes like myself, too. I couldn't image myself wearing some of it. I'd look like one giant goofball, but I do find what fits me here. If the guys and gals here can rock it like they do, good for them. That's their prerogative not yours. Take what you can find here, explore the options, and like one user said, go to Dongdaemun. With a name like princess, you certainly live up to that pretentious name. |

I'm not a big fan of the Korean styles. Not only do I not like most of it, but it doesn't look good on me or fit me well ... I always buy lots of clothes when I go home to Canada. I think the trend I hated the most last winter was every girl wearing shorts with tights underneath. So 80s-looking. Shorts are for summer! |

A lot of girls in America and Canada don't know how to dress, although there are exceptions.
Messy, unwashed looking ponytails, sweatpants and flip-flops haha no thank you.
Girls in Korea are better at looking sexy for the most part.
Male fashion on the other hand, can be pretty stupid looking. I saw this one guy dressed almost like a girl with fruity hair and I said "nice style, it's very pretty" and he bowed and said thank you LOLOL |

I don't ever bother criticizing people on this forum but CHINCHA? Is this girl for real? Who talks like that anymore?
Also how many girls do you know that like 'really short hair'? I would agree that crocs and huge baggy clothes are ugly. However if we're talking fashion then if you have ever read anything close to Vogue (even Cosmo) you'd know that predominantly fashion is often
misunderstood/disliked by your average man-I remember my ex really disliking city shorts which are neither big nor sloppy.
I mean come on....I'm not suggesting you burn your bra or anything 'Princess' but maybe you should try dressing for yourself and not for some man.
Because you know the whole omg, lol, little girl thing is well kind of ewwww. |

Yup, girls back home looks great. As other have been mentioning, messy ponytails, baggy sweatpants, old tank-tops and obesity.
Frankly, if that's what they want, fine. but stop trashing the Koreans (I'm hardly an apologist). Could it be jealousy? |

While the ethnocentrism on Dave's never fails, I have my own piece to say - watching fashion migrate from Asia back to the West is always a little hilarious, mostly because what looks good on the predominant body type of China/Japan/Korea usually looks pretty atrocious on your average [white] American lady. Leggings, sandals, and tops that are either a shirt or a dress but deity help you if you can tell which? Bring in the hipsters! That's totally their bag these days, and only the skinny ones really rock it. The fashion wasn't adopted with curvy ladies in mind. |
