Anyone know what time it starts?

Quote:
Itaewon Festival and Yongsan Citizens Day, 12-17 Oct 2010, Itaewon
Facebook
Twitter DATE: 12 thru 17 October 2010
TIME: varies - see below
COST: most events free of charge - food prices vary
VENUE: Itaewon and near Samgakji Station

The main events of the festival, including the opening ceremony, will be held on Saturday the 16th. The main events include the International Food Festival at which there will be food stalls opened along the north side of Itaewon Road near Noksapyeong Station. You can have a chance to try different foods from around the world and there will be traditional Korean foods as well. There will be a variety of performances on a stage set up near Noksapyeong Station, and a parade showcasing Korean traditional dress as well as that of other nations. The closing ceremony for the festival will be on the 17th.

This festival will be held in conjunction with two other events that are happening around the same time. From the 14th to 16th you can also check out a Street Festival and an Art Market in the Samgakji Station area.

In celebration of Yongsan Citizens Day, which is on October 18th, a number of performances and movie showings will also be held for free (or almost free) at the Yongsan Culture and Art Center in the new Yongsan District Office Building.

On Tuesday October 12th at 10am the film Mama Mia will be shown free of charge.

On Saturday the 16th at 6pm there will be a free creative traditional dance performance called Hayan Seoninjang. Entrance for this performance, and for these movie showings, is first-come first-served.

which day are they blocking the streets? That seems the best day to go Smile Itaewon as a fully pedestrian area... could be interesting.

Is there a link to an official site?

Here's subway information in case any newbies need it. Noksapyeong Station is on the Brown line (#6) . It's the subway station right after, (or before depending on which way you are coming), Itaewon station.

Some of you can't be bothered to post information to help other people? Yeah, you who live in Itaewon 24/7. There's probably posters all over the place in Itaewon plus a huge banner draped across the main street all with information about this event. Just stop to read it one time and post the times and any other info, like maybe a website. Some of us have to travel for more than an hour to get there and just need some info about starting and finishing times and no one who lives there 24/7 can be bothered to post.

I also would like some info about this, but don't want to come across as an ass.... Perhaps someone could send me a PM about the event?

By the way, I love soju.

Plenty of others requested information about this event. There are a number of posters on this site that (proudly and loudly) live in Itaewon and this isn't the first time that they've dropped the ball about sharing simple information about events in Itaewon. Call me what you want, but I share information with others. It's not that hard for others to do the same, especially when you consider how far some of us have to travel to get to Itaewon.

Some good stuff there, but the UK stand was a joke: ham and cheese croissant sandwiches! Iced Americano! Cookies!

Cookie is not even a British word and where was the tea?

The shavermas looked great though - the Iranian stand.

It's a handful of outdoor stalls with a country labelled on them - I saw: Iranian, Turkish, UK, France, Pakistan, America, South Africa and maybe a couple more, but that was it.

The Middle Eastern ones looked good and the eclairs from the French one were decent. It's all clustered at the Noksapeong end of Itaewon's main drag.
