Hi all,

I'm currently living in Israel, but am an American citizen. I was hoping to go straight from Israel to Korea... is it possible to have my dad and my university send all the documentation needed in? Is there anything I absolutely need to show up somewhere in the US in person to get?

You can get likely get the documents you need while you are abroad (the apostilled diploma and FBI CRC are the main ones). However, if you have never had a E-2 visa in the past, you will likely need to go back to the US to have your "home country" interview done.

If you had an E-2 in the past, your are golden, it is just a matter of time, paperwork and mailings.

I applied from Australia for jobs in Korea. I am an American Citizen and it was my first time getting an e-2 visa. I was a pain and very expensive getting all of the documents together especially the criminal checks but I did it without having to come back to the states. I could get my visa from Australia though, I had to travel to bangkok before coming to korea to get my work visa. So it is entirely possible but it would have been massively easier if I had just gone home and gathered the paperwork.
