I have been thinking about taking 3-6 months to study Korean full-time at a university, and I'd like to do it somewhere other than Seoul or Busan, both because I think it would be less of a financial burden outside of these cities and because I think it would be a more immersive experience. I've completed several levels of a full-time program at a university in Seoul, so I'm looking for programs that have strong instruction in their mid- to upper-level courses.
Has anyone studied with any of the full-time university programs outside of Seoul? Are there any programs like what I'm talking about? If so, how expensive are they - and how do they compare to the programs in Seoul? |

I was considering doing this one at Chonbuk university in Jeonju. Jeonju is a pretty nice place.

Price seems about the same as Sogang or Yonsei, maybe just a bit cheaper. I have no idea about how they are in the upper levels, good question.
They have a 5 hour a week program, and a 20 hour a week program, and an intensive program. |

they exist at pretty much every decent sized university. i did one level at keimyung in daegu. the program was quite good and i really liked their textbooks.
daegu is a pretty large city though, so probably not what you're looking for. the programs are generally around 1,000,000 a semester. |

Thanks for the link, Drew - the Jeonju program seems interesting. Does anyone have any first-hand experience with it?
I'd also be interested in hearing more about your experience, furtakk. I'm not sure what living expenses in Daegu are like, but if there's quality instruction available there, I'm open to it.
Would really enjoy hearing from any others about their experiences (or their friends' experiences) with Korean language programs outside of Seoul as well. |
