There were a few cases in the states that made national headlines. Where were these teachers when I was 15? Wink

Having sex with minors should be punished to the fullest extent of the law but it must be said that (at least in the U.S.) there seems to be a double standard when its a woman and a minor boy.

Also, I'd imagine it would be a bigger uproar (and accompanying new legislation) were it a foreign teacher, even if it were a woman.

In 'Let's Face It - 90 Years of Living, Loving and Learning' Kirk Douglas reveals:

"I had been a ragamuffin kid of 15 coping with a neighbourhood filled with gangs. Under my teacher's guidance I became a different person. I am eternally grateful. By today's standards she would have gone to jail. I had no idea we were doing something wrong. Did she?"

I don't get why these boys would let a good thing go and start blabbing about it. It it were me, I'd keep it quiet.

Would you guys be saying the same thing if this was a male teacher having sex with a 15 year old girl?

Depends how old the male teacher was, but probably not. However as often mentioned, it's just different when it's a younger male minor and and older female.

People would saying that they would beat the guy up, someone would chime in that if it was their daughter they would pay the teacher a visit and remove bits of the teacher anatomy. Others would say that the guy should go to jail for life.

Then someone would mis read it and think it was a foreign teacher then it would be a whole argument of the quality of foreign teachers here. Then it would turn into a whole racist korean argument.

But like it or not there is a double standard there. Logically I know there shouldn't be a difference but deep down it does feel different. And 90% of guys would agree.

Can we get a link?

There IS a double standard. People think it's perfectly 'okay' for a bunch of mid-40's women to swoon for Justin Beiber or that idiot from Twilight, but its 'creepy' for mid-40's men to give the same actions & behavior toward say- Miley Cyrus (and Brittany Spears before she went insane). Suddenly its okay for women to act like perverse animals yet men must be held to a higher standard. Crying or Very sad not fair Wink

I think the teacher is actually 35.

Would be nice to have pictures. Anyone translate the details?

As sirius said: Can you imagine the xenophobic orgy if the teacher in question was a barbarian NT, regardless of gender?

Hmm...two such incidents where the teacher in question was a barbarian NT and no xenophobic orgy took place

Then there was that teacher in Daejeon who fled to Japan...again no xenophobic orgy took place.

Very comprehensive & credible sources there, Conserv...er, myth!

A Korean rag and a blog that didn't even claim the accused(unnamed, as was the American in the first story)was arrested.

Now we have the full story! Kudos for your detective work!

Lickspittle.

I was there in '02 when I saw the demos against evil Americans who "murdered" girls with "tanks". Where was your head?

It was buried in a dictionary learning the difference between "teachers" and "soldiers". Mr. Wish...er Mosely.

Once again can you show me ANY links showing protests against TEACHERS (and not soldiers?)

So are you claiming in fact that xenophobic orgies have taken place against the teachers that have been arrested for sex crimes here?

IS there anyone out here that was here for that that isn't either a hardcore basher or to the death apologista? I'd like to hear their version of events. I've heard versions of the story but they've either been from the "It was paradise as always" crowd or the "It was Kristallnacht crowd". I know for one that it was neither.

Really? I had a very different place in mind as to where your head was buried.

Mr. Wish??!! Not a clue there, mate. I DO know that the The Conservative moniker was your sock puppet til you were outed...but I digress.

The "sources" you cited are absolute garbage. THEY don't mention xenophobic activity, therefore none such activity exists/existed. Brilliant.

I'd recommend you to PRAVDA but I think its circulation has declined since '92. Better stick to your post with AES.

The article makes the point that Koreans don't differentiate btwn. soldiers/civilians when it comes to xenophobia.

KOREANS DO NOT WANT FOREIGNERS(Western or otherwise) in KOREA.

Bottom line.
