Every time I've gone there was always 5-10 other foreigners I ran into either on the flight, or the train ride to the embassy.

I then proceeded to make excuses not to hang out with these people.

I'm supposed to do a visa run to Fukuoka this Wednesday. According to my hagwon director, I'll be leaving from Busan at 10am via ferry.

Couple of questions:
How much money should I bring w/ me?

Does anybody have any tips/advice related to going to Fukuoka for an E-2 visa?

Anyone one else going to be in Fukuoka from the 20th-21st and want to meet up for coffee or something?

You will need about 20000 yen (as a minimum).
You need money for the visa, food and a night at the hotel as well as your "entertainment" for the evening.

As to the "what to do"... Visa Runs...Fukuoka (23-odd pages of everything that you need to know or might want to do (from posters over the last 9 years)).

A recent Fukuoka visa run is listed here: http://esl-teaching-resources.blogspot.com/2010/07/2010-fukuoka-visa-run-part-2.html, with current costs and accomm options etc.

It's a pretty simple visa run, but some school directors are still not aware that you cannot get the visa within the same day, so make sure he/she hasn't booked you a same-day return. Really, you need at least a 3 night stay to get it all done comfortably. As your director is paying for your boat fare, you will need a minimum of W300,000 to cover the rest of your costs for a 3-night stay. The only way to do it cheaper is to sleep at overnight saunas or internet cafes.
