"lots" haha

I guess I'm spoiled, I live in Seattle where all the bars seem to have like a dozen different types of microbrew ales on tap. I'm drinking an Alaskan Amber right now.

And I'm drinking lukewarm Cass on a plastic chair in front of a GS25. So there.

I've had good experiences at 200 Brauhaus in Gangnam and O'Kim's Brauhaus in COEX Mall. The selection is limited, but the beer is good.

This. I was back home 2 weeks ago, and shopping in liquor stores with 100+ varieties of beer and going to bars with about 25 beers on tap. Once you come from a place like that (Wisconsin) you just have to cut your loses and realize Korea has terrible beer.

But! If you can get on a Ka-Brew "tour", do yourself a favor and go. I went last spring/summer, and for 40,000 won had all the beer I could drink for a few hours. And it's good beer. I think the Casses and Hites use their huge power here to not let the brewery bottle their stuff. Cause once they do, and Koreans realize that good beer CAN be made here, they'll never go back to that swill.

only way you'll get good beer here is to make it yourself! google homebrewkorea, there's a pretty solid community of homebrewers here with regular events and lots of support

Platinum makes some pretty good micro-brewed beers and used to run an all you can drink buffet with half of food from like 5-9 for 18k or so. Not sure if they still do.

Oh, and Beer Factory in Gangnam has a handful of decent German beers on tap - Paulaner, HB, Guinness. I mean, it's not much but it's better than nothing.

I think there's more than one location in Gangnam. I went to the one out of Exit 8, which seems less crowded.

The best place I have found for variety and taste is Big Rock Brewery in Gangnam. They have IPA, Stout and other types too. Just google them and you should be able to find their location.

"Deutsches Haus" in Hannam-dong, about halfway between the Hospital and Cheil Building. 6 excellent German Beers on tap (!) and a famously overhyped Dutch brand in a bottle in case you need something to throw at stray dogs.

The food is not authentic German but some of the dishes are okay (Hof style sausage platters and the like). Nice atmosphere and decoration.

There's a strange note on the menu that seems to say that you pay for the size of the glass, not what's in it (I found that my 0.5 l Weizen was closer to 0.4). Expect 7-8,000 for a half liter glas.

Otherwise, good beer in bottles is now almost everywhere in Seoul, and there's plenty of draft beer in Itaewon.

Craftworks in Noksapyeong right near Itaewon is excellent. It's a Canadian style microbrew, and they've got a good selection with good food.

If beer is your priority you should definitely go there.

Exit out of exit 8 of Gangnam station. Look left. It's right there. Can't miss it. Enjoy!
