I'm going crazy with trying to get my xbox to work. I had to buy a replacement adapter because my old one stopped working. The brick is red whenever I plug it in here.

The XBOX power supply's Output voltage: 12V - 16.5A 5Vsb 1A 203Watt . Whatever that means...

But apartment's plug says 250W, 16A... again, unsure what that means exactly.

I tried using a convertor to convert the voltage to the 250 W, but the converter I bought just says output up to 250W, and 6A not 16A?

I'm going insane trying to get this to work. Any ideas??? Thanks!

Firstly, calm down

Then, the plug saying 250W 16A is it's maximum power output before it blows a fuse/melts, and it probably says 250V V for Voltage not W for Watts. It's ok.

Your Xbox adapter output voltage means it outputs the 203Watts your Xbox needs to work, more importantly on that adapter is its input voltage, does it say 110Volts (US spec) or does it say 200-220Volts (UK/Korea spec)???

You need the adapter to say 200-220 really thats the voltage here in Korea, and you'll be able to plug it in and it just work, it might be the xbox adapter say 100-220Volts, this is then like a laptop adapter and that can accept any input voltage and give out whatever the laptop needs. If it says 110Volts thats when you need a big power voltage converter, from EMart or wherever,

Haha. Thanks. It just drives me crazy.

The input says this:

Input: 100V - 240V

But the problem is that it's a three prong american plug (two short metal pieces and center rounded metal piece) so it cannot just fit into the Korean plug. I've plug it into a Korean adapter that doesn't change the voltage AND a Korean converter that does, and with both the power supply light is still red.

Any ideas?

Sorry to semi-derail this thread, but anyone know why Microsoft doesn't just mirror Sony's power scheme?

It seems like people, including myself, are always worried about the power issue. And what's up with the power brick?

PS3s don't really seem to have these issues as it has the ability to receive a wide range of voltages and there's just the one cable that runs directly into the console.

There also isn't a uniform power supply for the 360. I understand this probably has something to do with hardware changes throughout 360 generations, but, come on....

Ah well.

360 build quality makes no sense to me when Wiis and PS3s seem to be running just fine and dandy most of the time. Zero of my friends with launch PS3s (about 15) have had any issues with theirs yet (usage ranging from frequent BluRay use to game addiction).

I'm sorry, but is it really possible to get a college degree without having the most basic electric knowledge about Volts, Amperes and Watts, and how they are connected to each other?

Seriously, everybody seems to know E=mc^2 has something to do with relativity and that cool Einstein person, but where are the (necessary) t-shirts with basic formulas such as W=VA? Clearly a much more practical thing to know and understand.
