In GEPIK, your school can make you work up to 6 hours extra classes (they have to pay you for them though) and they take a housing deposit from your first three paychecks.
EPIK gives you 2 fewer vacation days per year. Oh, and I think the starting pay is less unless you work in a rural area.
They're mostly the same, other than that. |

And some EPIK jobs do not pay an extra Rural Allowance (for working in/commuting to a rural school). |

EPIK is the national program and is administered by NIIED.
GEPIK is the program in Gyeonggi province and is administered by the Provincial Office of Education located in Suwon.
GEPIK is a larger program than EPIK (there are more schools in Gyeonggi province than there are in the rest of Korea (if you don't include Seoul).
The contracts are slightly different.

I believe you are wrong on that, you take out Seoul and Gyeonggi you still have more than 25 million people in the rest of the country vs Gyeonggi's 10 million. Unless you were meaning that Gepik sends NET's to more schools than Epik, since both programs do not cover all schools in their regions. |

The main difference is location. GEPIK is in Gyeonggi-do, which is the large province surrounding Seoul and Incheon. EPIK is most of the rest of Korea, except some smaller areas in the south, like Pusan and Gimhae.
The reason I prefer GEPIK is the location. There are many great cities in the GEPIK area plus the Seoul subway system runs through large parts of the GEPIK area. Being able to travel easily makes a big difference in many ways, probably more than you realize. It helps with sightseeing, meeting people, maybe with medical care (if you need it), and it opens up many shopping opportunities that can save you money. |
