+1 on the GEPIK. Much, much more stable job for your first year. Random jobs are very hit or miss, and I think lean more on the "miss" side.
Two big things.
Hours: 8:30-4:30 is a lot better than 1:30-9:30 (if you want to have any sort of social life)
Vacation: 20 days vs 10 days. TAsia is a big place with a lot to see. You don't want to be stuck going to work every single day. |

Congrats... brush up on your Hanguel/Korean and youtube some stuff in preparation. PM me if you need any teaching materials. It'll make your life MUCHO easier having a network you can gather info from.

KOTESOL?
is that like an offshoot of EPIK, like GEPIK is? |

GEPIK may be good or it may not be.
Your co-teacher may be great or psychotic. If s/he is psychotic, it will be a loonnnggggg year since you are basically forced to work together.
Also, it depends on the kids. Korean public schools have large classes (30+ kids) and that can be very difficult to handle.
There is no guarantee that GEPIK will be better than a hagwon.
Also consider that the previous teacher left due to "family issues". This may or may not be true. They wouldn't tell you that the previous teacher quit because they hated it right? Pretty hard to recruit somebody then! |

yeah, but i can only hope for the best. it's a lot better than having a job, or the fear of being messed around.
i think the teacher that left was a male.
are female teachers preferred do you know?
and are most co-workers male or female? |

because another teacher left half way through the contract due to family issues. |
About 50% of teachers left their contract within 6 months due to 'family issues' apparently.
The death rate for grandparents of esl teachers in korea is 500 times the national average. |
