My background: 30 y/o gyopo male, with 2 years experience teaching adults & kids in hagwons in Seoul. BS in psychology and law degree, but I'm having a hell of a time finding work as an attorney right now. I'm seriously considering going into TESL as a permanent career.
My time teaching hagwon English was useful but I think I really need formal training to be competitive for teaching at a uni or business English. I really want to be in Korea (my GF lives there) and I don't care which city.
The closest local TESL MA program to me is at the University of Central Florida. I'm willing to put in the work (30-36 semester hours) if getting an MA will open doors for those kinds of positions.
What do you think? I appreciate your frank advice. Thanks |

I would suggest you take the MA TESL degree if you are specifically applying to teach at a Uni (which you could do here). Why not apply now for business English and work at a hagwon again? WSI
One question tho- you said your gf lives here, but you don't care which city?? Korea isn't THAT small- Big diff if you live in Gangwon-do and she lives in Incheon |
