I, too, have a strong aversion to working in American public schools. However, there are private schools. Pay is less, but less rape tape. Fewer students and fewer troubles. Also, don't forget about DOD schools, International schools and private American schools in exotic places like Guam!
Or, how about beinga professor of literature and writing at a school here in Korea? 12 hours a week sound good?

By the way, whats a library? Are they like those stores with bulky DVDs that you had to drive to if you wanted to watch a movie? |

I want to second someone's recommendation that you look into What Color is My Parachute? This is the 2011 version. (They do one for each year.) It wont give you all the answers but some things to think about.
http://www.amazon.com/What-Color-Your-Parachute-2011/dp/158008270X/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1287892652&sr=8-2
Also, see what is recommended based on your Myers-Briggs type.
If you dont know it, here's an online version (maybe not a genuine version but a starting point) and then search recommended jobs for your type:

Also, there's the bureau of labor:

Actually a lot of useful info like typical salaries, job outlook, etc.
Library science was considered a "hot" career option a few years ago and I knew a few people who pursued this. You should check what the current outlook is. If you can talk to people who recently graduated, especially from the school you're looking into, that would be ideal. I know someone who got her masters in this last year but hasn't found a job in the field yet. I dont know why though.

You may have to deal with the public to a certain extent if you work in a public library. You can do other things such as work in a school or university setting or a corporate position. Digital assets need to be organized too. |

How about working with animals?
They have lots of options ranging from doing official and managerial tasks' at a
front desk , to doing more technical tasks ,such as surgical procedures and
medication dispension, or just doing very basic tasks, such as giving baths
and walks.
Depends on where you wanna go with it.
Most places will train new hires to work in every area. |
