So I finally, FINALLY... got my FBI CBC. I've been back in the US getting anxious about what to do next. I had decided to return to the ROK quite some time ago but was warned away because of the looming FBI check for US citizens.

Well, now I've got mine and I'm ready to head abroad again.

I've got 4.5 years of experience in Busan, mostly at university and adult hagwons. What are my chances of landing and finding work lately? I guess I would prefer Busan but might want to try Seoul on for size so I can at least play some DnD on the weekends.

And, would I be safe bring all of my documents with me and getting the necessary stamps there in the ROK?

IF you have the documents in hand and the airfare in your pocket your best bet for landing what you want is to just jump on the plane and head over.

(side note: now that you have your FBI check with an apostille, get your degree copied and an apostille affixed to that too (if you haven't already). Original degrees are no longer used/accepted for E1/E2 visa applications).

IS DND dungeons and dragons? You sound a bit like a geek.

YOu would prefer Busan but MIGHT consider Seoul.

I think you might be in for a rude awakening.

If you have been in KOrea for 5 years or whatever your best bet is your network that you should have built up. Contact the foreign "teachers" that you know and ask them if anything is coming up.

I agree with ttompatz: if you have your documents in hand and you can come here first, there is no way you won't find a job. Especially with 5 years experience. If you've got a network in Busan, put out the word that you can start work immediately and I'm sure you'll get gobbled up quickly.

The last sentence is the kicker...

Answer is, NO: get all your necessary stamps (apostille, notarisation etc) before you go. Getting them done from the ROK can be very difficult.
