Does anyone have any knowledge of the Talking Club in Jecheon? I tried searching for Talking Club but for some reason my computer locks up when I try to search. I'm scheduled to talk to a current teacher tomorrow.
Thanks!

I work for a Talking Club in Cheongju. Make sure you do your research on the individual branch.

My boyfriend and I have been screwed over big time - been here for 5.5months and been paid for 2 of them. We have started a court case. Our boss is an evil compulsive liar. She also screwed over the previous two sets of teachers by owing them a lot of money.

The actual franchise seems to be good - they have set books/curriculum and classes are kept to a maximum of 5 or 8 students. I like teaching there apart from the obvious.

Get references from the current foreign teachers and check how many students there are.

Good luck

If you are referring to E Bo Young Talking Club, then stay away from them. Heard nothing but bad things about them.

I've heard nothing but good about the one in Chungju. A good friend of mine worked there for several years, never had any trouble, and had one of the cushiest hagwon jobs I've ever heard of. They let him take days off on a whim!

Actually, now they want me for the one in Gumi. Apparently I turned down the job in Jecheon... I don't recall doing that, though I've been having so many interviews I may have. I'll get the contract to review tomorrow, and the contact info of the current teacher. I'm inclined not to work for Talking Club based on things I've heard.

It all depends on the owner. The further you are from major cities, the more flexible they tend to be (all hagwons in general). If you don't see eye to eye with the owner, it isn't going to work out. In that case, find another one.

Don't just talk to the recruiter. Talk to the school. Don't just talk to the front desk at the school, talk to the owner. If the owner refuses to talk to you, they must have someone who is their assistant that handles all hiring and firing issues while the owner sleeps on the couch.

This is not to be confused with the manager who is third in line and does the legwork of daily operations and bosses everyone around, making the owner and assistant look like perfect angels.

I'm at a Talking Club, and I have had no problems or complaints thus far. Each school is different.
