Hello, I'm new to Dave's ESL Cafe, but I work in Gwangju and need to come up with a few good games for, both young elementary children and older kids for Halloween (October 29th). They should be fun but also include a little bit of learning to please the director! They should also be easy to make, since it isn't very easy to make things in Korea. So any suggestions? Thanks.

Bobbing for apples. Ok, not really educational, but it's a classic.

1. DRAW A MONSTER. Have them draw a monster with one point for every item matching. "Three big eyes, four small purple ears, a long neck, six arms, etc"

2. HIT A MONSTER. Have the students line up and instruct them that there are points only for the eyes. After they try, change the body part and repeat. If classes small, use blood darts (ketchup on magnetic dart board darts aimed at a dart board covered with a pic of a monster.

3. MONSTER BINGO. Make a blank 4x4 sheet and have them write in Halloween words. Direct them with hints. Have them volunteer the words and get them to spell them. (e.g. Halloween, ghost, candy, zombie, etc)

4. MAKE-A-MUMMY. In teams of four or so, give each team a roll of toilet paper and have them wrap up a team member. Have a time limit though the first to complete the mummy wins! (This I usually use in conjunction with a writing task like the word bingo above, doing this afterwards gets them excited and ends the class on a high energy note.

Thanks for the suggestions. This for a Halloween party where we will have two sessions, one at 3pm for the younglings and 5pm for the older ones. I actually have one that I'm probably going to do--a fishing game where they pick up pictures out a fake pond and have to name the object they pick up. So I need another one to do, that Monster bingo might be good.
