This is something that I'm a bit curious about. What does the word "glamour" mean to koreans, or in particular, korean students??

I know it's not the same as us, just like "fighting" has been b@stardised into some strange korean thing.

I ask this, because apparently my nick name at school, the name my students call me, is glamour woman. And I'm not sure that it is an entirely savoury name.

to my knowledge it is not..

i understand it to mean a slutty looking girl with big hooters, make up, etc.. not an attractive and fashionable lass as yourself.. they must be using the english meaning for you my dear.

please dont take it the wrong way.. thats just how i understand it

Shocked Shocked Shocked Oh my god! That is terrible! They think I look like a slu-t? No wonder the other teachers laughed when I told them. That is so embarrassing.

I haven't heard that word in quite a while. I think it means that you have some curves. From what I remember, it wasnt a negative word.

Oh my heart is breaking with your woeful tale about your big chest. Laughing

Ladies...you have to watch what you wear. Really. I know it's not cool and I know it's not fair. But at least in my school I not only have to dress better than the Korean teachers (a rule I do, ehm, kind of ignore, just cause I still haven't bought enough suits and skirts etc. yet) but I definitely have to dress looser (as in not tight) Wink than my coworkers. Although I can sympathize...if you do have a big chest (poor babies) Smile then usually the only way to totally cover it up would be to wear layer upon layer (fun in the summer, for sure!) or wear a tablecloth to work...maybe fashion it into a dashiki or something.
Anyways, wylde's explanation seems to be a bit off the mark...glamour is just having a noticeably big chest, as far as I know.

I have never known the Konglish "glamour" to have a negative connotation. Just today, in a comparison-contrast exercise, students in one workgroup were comparing Lee Hyori and Kim Hye-soo. The word 'glamour' was tossed around in reference to Kim Hye-soo but not in any way that was negative. It means, as far as I can tell, a healthy body with curves, i.e. big boobs. Call yourself luck there girl Wink

P.S. Maybe you should upload a picture so we can decide for ourselves!@
