F-4 allows you to work privates. ONLY IF, you don't work for ps. On top of that renewing your visa is much easier, you don't need to submit FBI CBCs every year. And its easier to move between job to job. But other than that, nothing special.
And a lot of hagwons will discriminate against F-4 holders. Most job ads will say they only want E-2,.F-2 holders. They want the white face. Of course they could always "Lose" your application once they see your photo. But hey at least you got past the first line.  |

| been speaking to some recruiter guy in korea. he says that a lot of U.S. born people are being denied f4 visa renewals. I decided to take my chances and fly out to Korea to get the f4. If that doesn't work out I can always get my e2 |

Let me know how that goes. Just an FYI. Will this be your first E2 visa if you are denied the f4? |

Still working on it. Not sure if its worth the hassle anymore, especially with the military stuff looming in the background. FYI - My recruiter advised me not to go to Korea until I had my E2 visa first. Something about having to be in your home country if its your first e2. Might want to check into that. |

| yea probably because you need to get a background check and the rest of the paperwork done in your home country in order to get an e2. |

That was my understanding as well. My parents are Korean citizens, I am an American citizen. But the consulate in Seatlle is telling me I am not eligible because my parents are Korean citizens. Thanks for the input. |
If this has already been answered, please ignore my post. To get an F4 visa, your parents can NOT be Korean citizens.
Reasoning behind this was too many Korean parents having their children abroad with foreign citizenships to avoid military service. So parents must now give up their Korean citizenship too. |
