When being switched over to an E1 visa from an E2 you have to get a Visa Issuance Number. Once you have this number all you have to do is take it to a Korean Embassy outside Korea, just give them the number without any other paperwork and then wait. Is that correct? That is what I was told, but it is hard to believe that I only have to hand over a number. I do realize that that the Issuance Number would only be given if all things were in order on the Korea side, but having left to go to the overseas embassy, but I want to be sure. Has anyone had any experience in this? Is there a form that will be given from the overseas embassy once the Issuance number is submitted to them?

Visa confirmation number, photo, application (from the counter in the consulate), application fee. Wait 24 hours or so. Pick up your passport with the visa in it and return to Korea.

The rest has already been done. It really is that simple.

i'm interested in doing this, and I think my uni would go along. in fact, they suggested I get a E-1 when I started, but the E-2 was an easy transfer and they were OK with it.

Any more info about this transfer? Visa issuance, as I remember only came after a full application to immigration. Would I have to go through the same process as I did when obtaining an E-2 visa?
