Do I have a case???

I recently moved out of my apartment and took with me the sofa that the previous tenant, who was my colleague and friend had bought. When my room mate and I moved into the old house there were two sofas. Our colleague's one (very nice, quite expensive) and the old crappy one the landlord had in there. We asked them to take this old one out as we needed the space in my room mates bedroom. We didn't sell it or give it away, we gave it to the realtor, the landlord knew about this, still the landlord's sofa.

Anyway, now I've moved out with my couch and the landlord is demanding it back because the contract states that there will be a sofa there when we move out. This, despite the fact that when they took the landlord's one it went back to said landlord. I've offered to give her 100,000 for it, she says it's not enough. Also, we left a very big TV there there which was also ours. There was nothing about the landlord providing a TV in the contract so I am within my rights to demand that or ask for some money for it, right?

Now my school are hassling me to take said expensive sofa back as the landlord is giving them shit. What can I do??????

Keep the sofa and go back and get the TV. Then tell your ex-landlord to go take a flying leap at a rolling donut. It's your sofa. You informed him as to where the old one went. The realtor should cover this "problem" for you.

Not your problem.

The landlord is in the right. She has every right to ask for her sofa back (or the value of), unless you have something written on the lease that says you can dispose of it. The TV has nothing to do with the sofa (I know it's fair in your mind, but I guess she sees it differently, which she has the right to), unless she agrees. Take the TV back, if you want, then agree on a fair amount and settle it with her. Good luck.

Uhm, did you speed read the original post or something? It's not the landlord's sofa in question; go back and read it again.

+1 on the poster who said to tell the landlord to take a flying leap through a donut hole. And, go take your television back.

The realtor took the old sofa way back then, we never had any contact with the landlady in 12 months. Whereas the realtor had a business relationship with the landlady so the landlady knew we were taking her sofa out.

I know I could find a nasty sofa dumped or a cheap one but this was a really nice one. Anyway she demanded 300,00 and I don't want to pay that much. My boss has taken her side because of the contract stating the house needed to have a sofa at the end of the 12 months. My boss is getting arsey with me which I don't really need so I am surrendering the sofa. I will try and get the TV, not that I watch it.

no speed reading. it became the property of the landlord by default.

morally, i agree with op and all of the posters, but the landlord is making it a legal matter (my legal training was not in korea, so it may differ).

Just find the cheapest and quickest way out of this, then forget about it.

In the future, make sure to get any deviation from the lease stipulated in writing.

Good luck.

You don't understand, go find the worst sofa you can and dump it into the apartment, then take the tv and peace out.

You could probably find a cheap sofa for 50 bucks on the buy/sell/trade forum, then leave that at the apartment, or even find one on the street. Keep your nice one and get your TV!
