i bought a leather jacket for 100. she tried to charge me 160. i brought it down to 120 at first and she said ok immediately (that's not a good sign when they agree right away.) i had to go to the atm to get some cash, and when i came back, i had a change of heart and tried to bring it down to 100 but she was insisting she would lose money if she sold it to me at that price, so i told her i'd look for another jacket elsewhere and did the walking away thing. she finally gave me in. i felt proud even though i still probably got ripped off.

what about you? whats your best bargain story?

the worst part about this is that i went with my gf and she's probably the most apologetic bargainer ever.

In Mexico, I bargained a leather jacket from $900 down to $60 Very Happy
I haven't really done much in Korea, a lot of the time when I've tried, they look at me strangely and just repeat the asking price. It it common to barter here?

Myself personally I'm not good at bargaining becuase I hate to argue. But my wife is a total shark (I found out the hard way.) I can't even remember where we were I think it was up by guri station or something looking at guitars and we were wondering down some pretty seedy alleys. This guy popped out of a garage looking place (it wasn't even a shop) and said something about Nike shoes.

I took a look and he had fake Nike AirMax shoes for sale that looked pretty decent for being fake. I asked how much and he said 120,000 won, I was like no way not for knock offs. I asked if he could do any better and he said no, so I started to walk away. Then I hear my wife say something in Korean and the man answered, then she shouted something and he shouted back.

Then they start going back and forth throwing up their hands, stomping on the ground and I'm pretty sure I saw some spit flying. In the end she gave the guy 35,000 won and I walked away with the shoes. I was happy that I got the shoes but surprised that she acted so aggressive usually she is quiet. It kind of scared me.
