Hello.

I want to get out of Busan this weekend, so Im considering either Geoje or Shimonseki, I think it would be bice to get on a boat.

Has anyone ferried to either of these places? Whats the story with times, prices and booking? I have tried google of course but came up without much.

Also information on the actual places would be nice, any help appreciated.

Thankoo

Shiminoseki is long. Fukuoka is a nice quick trip. Grab the Beetle and get over there in under 3 hours. You can party it up over in Oyafukudori, enjoy some walks through Castle Ruins, some really nice parks, and half decent Shinto Shrine, and shop in the Tianjin Area. Good times. Geoje might be a bit cheaper though if you are concerned about budget. It should be nice and quiet there this time of year too.

Ferries to gohyeon from busan: http://busanpa.com/Service.do?id=coast_04a

ferries to Okpo: http://busanpa.com/Service.do?id=coast_04b

Ferries to janseung po: http://busanpa.com/Service.do?id=coast_04c

It costs slightly over 20,000won each way too.

Gohyeon and Okpo are the two main parts of the island for going out and having a good time. A bus anywhere on the island is W1,000 so just pay it and hop off when you please

If you're coming this weekend there is a large group of foreigners going out in gohyeon, you should spot them around the main downtown drinking area (where WA Bar and lotte cinema are), they'll all be dressep up too.

If you don't want foreigners then head to the south of the island, pick up a small love motel / min bak and do some hiking or hang out around the beaches.

ferry to okpo or gohyeon. In my opinion gohyeon is the better of the two. Okpo has a sleazy are to it due to the ship yard workers being there so the locals have set up strip joints staffed by filipinos. Not that i'm blaming all the ship yard workers for it, most of them are here with families.

Gohyeon and Okpo are about 15 minutes apart by the local bus which runs every 10 mins or so.

If you get the ferry to gohyeon it's much easier to take a bus around the island as the main bus terminal is here. You will have to rely on knowing which bus number you want to get on if you are in okpo as you will be waving it down from a bus stop.

There are loads of motels in both places.

You guys from Ireland? the fall was awesome, still can't believe they put it in the news with no reference to it!!

Does your boyfriend play soccer? If he does, we have a kick about on a saturday afternoon for a couple of hours if he fancies coming along, meeting some locals and finding out things to do.
