[Bloopity Bloop]

I don't know what's going on today, but I keep getting shocked by almost every metal object I touch today. Haven't been shocked this much since Las Vegas as a kid (sadly, I haven't been to Vegas since middle school). I just went to get water and got a surprisingly painful shock from the water fountain in my office.

Very strange as I don't think I've experienced more than a few shocks in the total time I've been in Korea for the past 1.5 years.

When I walked into my classroom earlier today, my hand brushed the alarm console and it went off (didn't even KNOW it was an alarm console until today). It wouldn't shut off until a guy from the security company came by to shut it off. I was trying to give a powerpoint presentation despite the noise so it was dark in my room and I guess the security guard was worried someone up to no good was in there so he came in with his baton out. Some of my kids screamed and then started laughing when they realized what was going down... took me a while to get them back in control.

Weirdest day ever.

Hopefully I'm developing some kind of super power like the guy in Infamous. That was a pretty damn good game, btw.

Really have no idea why this is happening.

im not even lieing--im getting shocked too, especially when my cat touches his nose on me, it shocks him.. very weird indeed, and it all just started maybe a week ago.

The humidity of summer has passed. Dry air contributes to the generation of static electricity (or rather the moisture stops preventing it.) It's like this every year in Korea. I thought you'd been here a while?

It is a fact that some people have a natural propensity to carry/create/attract static electricity.
The only scientific method that I know of to prevent this, is to trail a 10m long copper wire behind you - about 2 inches in diameter should be enough.

I guess it's somewhat comforting to know I'm not the only one. But I'm also sad it isn't some manifestation of electrical superpowers.

I went back to an older pair of work shoes and the static shocks have disappeared!

Must have been the rubber/plastic soles of my new shoes which kept the static charge in my body......
