is there anything else i can do besides teaching....
I think I might qualify for this...
Associate of Arts Degree in English?
Would that be good enough to help me teach abroad? |
NO YOU NEED A BA. JUST HOW MANY TIMES DO YOU NEED TO BE TOLD THIS BEFORE YOU WILL STOP ASKING???? |
The TALK program, even with its flaws, allows undergrads. |

OP, please read the following.
1. You have absolutely no chance of working legally in Seoul as you do not have the credentials to get an E2 Visa.
2. Yes, you can work illegally if you so choose. However, if you do you will most likely have to find something when you are already in country and not in the US. You would have to come to Seoul and look for a job that was willing to pay under the table, they won't pay your flight for you. |

good enough?
****please, i get it. you're all english teachers or good at english.
don't troll on the thread please. i'm not here to correct or bash on peoples
use of the English language. I just want information. **** |
You will not get a visa. Very few recruiters will work with you if you don't meet E-2 requirements. Very few schools are going to want to hire you when they can get certified teachers from the States for 2.2-2.3. Living in the Seoul area and meeting a ton of people, I've never met or heard of anyone working without a visa. |

The TALK program, which is what everyone has told you from the third or fourth post on. Without that, you aren't going to get a job in Korea. Moreover, coming here without an E-2 and working illegally means you're going to have to find an apartment on your own, which means you're going to have to put down key money for an apartment. Do you have a spare five or ten grand lying around? Six or eleven when you factor in the need to pay for your own flight?
In China you can certainly find something that doesn't involve teaching if you have some proficiency in Chinese. |

Once you finish your degree, you should be able to teach in any of those countries.
Don't be a fool, stay in school. |
I could probably qualify....Associate of Arts Degree in English?
Would that be good enough? |
An Associate of Arts Degree in English probably will not land you a teaching job in Seoul. You will not be qualified and there is too much competition, too many certified and highly qualified teachers are getting those jobs.
My suggestion would be to gather up some money, buy your own plane ticket to Korea, and begin searching once you get here. Mind you, the teacher market is tight for now. Therefore, you might want to check some of the larger hospitals. Word on the street is there is a very short supply of brain surgeons and kimboptometrists these days. I think you would qualify for at least one of these.
Good luck and happy hunting. |

End of question period then OP. Your questions have been answered now (more than once). |
