Re: buying long underwear for the cold weather:
I found some decent long underwear at a hiking store. There are also some cheaper ones at Homeplus that I got for when it's not terribly cold but I do need another layer. The Homeplus ones are about 30k a set, and are mix-and-matchable. Mountain gear can get pricier. There's also the military shop route. If you know someone in the armed forces, they could get cheap ones for you. |

i like buying clothes here. i like it better than i do in america. i just don't like the underwear here. and yeah, i'm not xl. i'm an L here.
i like shopping at uniqlo, the weird thing is that the sizes are different in asian uniqlo stores and american ones. a large in america is HUGE. |
if you're a large here, you're barely medium in America.
an American L is double XL in Korea.
an American XL is triple XL in Korea.
and even then the cut is not the same, as I noted a Korean XXXL I have is still a bit tight around neck and shoulders, which is a problem I never have with an American XL. |

Would someone explain to me why in Korea they have men's underwear with pictures of white waifish teens with what look like enormous plastic schlongs inserted into the underpants located next to the children's underwear? Whatever the picture, they all have the same impossibly big schlongs inside.
And on gmarket, access to the men's underwear is often restricted because the pictures are so weird and borderline obscene. Some of them resemble Star Wars codpieces.
Buying underwear in Korea is embarrassing. And wearing Korean underwear is embarrassing because when you get the underpants home they are so tight you might as well be wearing girl's panties. I don't think you would want to be in a car accident back home wearing Korean underwear. |

The women in the underwear ads always look 12 years old, too! Ok, maybe 14... |

I needed a new t-shirt in France and so whipped into a Gap, was an XS.

| When I went to Myanmar 3 months ago, I had a driver take me out to a place that sells Singapore imports thinking I'd get some cotton briefs, but found they were identical to what you find in Korea. I bought em' anyhow since I had thrown out 6 pairs of briefs to travelers diarrhea. It's the same personal issue where the rear end of these briefs are never roomy enough so it feels tight and fits in an uncomfortable screwed up way. Logic has it, these are Asian style underwear which are made to fit a slim 20 year old Asian guy. I'm having the same issue with pants too where the rear end and front pockets lack enough room. Gotta slim it down to 32" waist to get these clothes to fit right. |
