|

Perhaps I am dense, but I still am not sure of the exact steps I have to take to get my degree authenticated from overseas. I am a Canadian, my uni is in Canada, but I am living in Bangkok. The recruiters just keep telling me to get it apostilled (Canada doesn't do this from what I gather) or to just send it to Toronto.
So my question is, can I just DHL my degree to the Korean consulate? The recruiter says yes. but it seems that there must be another step. I plan to go directly to Korea from Bangkok. I've also been told I do not need official transcripts anymore, but I must need at least an unofficial copy.
If anyone, could baby step me through this process I will drink a cold Singha for you.
Thanks. |

*bump*
I actually think I am going to have fly back to Canada to get my diploma certified, but I will avoid cold weather if I can for as long as I can. |

First, call the consulate in Toronto and ask them if you can send it and have it mailed to you. You need to send a notarized copy. I sent 5 at once to make it cheaper. It was about $3.30 x 5 as I remember.
I also got 10 sealed transcripts at once just in case. That was 50 bucks.
Then the CRC I got them to make a copy and stamp it with a blue stamp to make it 'original' as per the Vancouver consulate recommendation.
you don't need to waste $2500 on flying.. probably... |

I'm in Cambodia at the moment and had to go through a similar process, except that I dealt with the consulate in Montreal. Fortunately, I had someone reliable that lived in Montreal who was able to receive my diploma, transcripts, and pick up my background check for me and deliver it all to the consulate.
As far as I know, you can send your background check and notarized degree directly to the consulate, as long as you include the payment for the certification (I think it's $4.40 per document) and a return air way bill. I actually had to send them a document at one point, and just called them to let them know it was coming, and it was no problem for them. |

Thanks guys. That is helpful advice. I do have family in Toronto who already have my criminal check and transcripts. So they could just take it all in for me? Would the Canadian Embassy in Bangkok be the place to get my degree notarised?
A silver lining finally. Thanks again. |
