I've been told that there's a dozen or so lab equipment stores near Jongno3ga (near a theatre?) selling things like beakers, test tubes, flasks, etc. I can't find it on naver maps and info via google is pretty sparse. Anyone ever been there or know which exit I would take from the station?

There sure are.
What I'd recommend you do is go to Jonggak (not familiar with Jongno 3-ga) go to exit 3 (Insa-dong), and walk straight until you see Burger King on the other side. Cross the street and keep walking in the original direction and you can't miss them- they are directly across from Jongmyo.

there are many, the easiest way is to take Jongno3ga, exit 7. walk straight for 3-4mins, past the family mart towards changdeok palace, just before u see the gs25 on teh corner (other side of the road to exit 7. ) there will be a building-looks like apartments, its an officetel, there are about 4-5 shops in there taht sell stuff, but anyways, if u walk through that building and out the back exit there will be a 5-6 more science shops, if u go to the first one through the store there will be a small call centre, the girl there speaks english, pm me ur email and i will send u a picture of the store.

@thingscomearound, thanks for your directions! I actually went out jongno3ga exit 12 and the stores were right there.
