slash body of music.

I recently dumped a 32gb mem card into my Galaxy S and after putting in all the stuff I'm sure I'd listen to at the moment, I have some space leftover.

What are essential songs everyone should carry around with them? Essential albums?

I'd like to cover as many genres and time periods as possible.

Also, my friend and I are putting together an acoustic cover band and are putting together a setlist. Any song suggestions you think people (girls) would like to be played?

Off the top of my head......

.......a few albums which I consider to be 'all killer, and no filler' would be....

Astralweeks...........Van Morrison.

Blood on the Tracks.......Bob Dylan.

Hatful of Hollow...........The Smiths.

Is This It..........The strokes.

Steve Reich - Music for 18 Musicians - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xU23LqQ6LY4

Philip Glass - Two pages - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5antXqfUQrQ

John Cage - 4'33'' - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HypmW4Yd7SY

That should do. Combined you get about 300 minutes of gold.

Got a playlist of your stuff? I only have 4GB or so of music and I feel like I am missing a ton of stuff and like you wonder what that is.

About 80% of your list is in my playlist...I am pretty sure on a few of your bands you probably have more songs in your playlist than you have on that site.

I am GLAD that someone else recognizes the genius that is Boston.

we also did a wonder girls song.

I like virtually all genres ranging from death metal to alt rock to pop to underground hip-hop to Indonesian gamelan to Mongolian throat singing.

What's kind of cool about having such limited space (I've always had giant capacity HDD-based MP3 players in the past) is that you are forced to only put in stuff you're sure you're going to listen to.

So here's some of the artists (excluding a lot of big acts) I'm currently diggin and spinnin (or accessing from my SD card Razz ):
Anamanaguchi, The Arcade Fire, Atmosphere, The Avett Bros, Bloody Beetroots, Blue Scholars, Bon Iver, Boys Noize, Brad Mehldau, Broken Social Scene, Cary Bros, Cazals, Chromeo, Cut Copy, Dan Merriweather, Darwin Deez, Empire of the Sun, Fanfarlo, Friendly Fires, Hot Chip, Justice, Lazer Sword, Matt & Kim, Neon Indian, Pacific!, Primus, Ratatat, Robert Glasper, Skrillex, Tokyo Police Club, and TV on the Radio.
