Well, this tool will tell you. Simply type in the point of impact into the map and it will tell you if the thermal blast, pressure wave and fallout will get to you.

I did my town, and with a standard issue 9KT North Korean 2009 test nuke, I manage to stay well clear of all three assuming a direct hit on the city centre nearest to me. Cool

You can change the weapon type.

The bad news is, if it's an asteroid we're all toast.

Of all modern cities, Seoul would probably fare the worst in terms of a nuclear attack, because of the high population density. Seoul clocks in at 17,288/km sq. NYC has 10,630/km sq., and I'd imagine DC and other US cities have significantly less.

Think about those population densities when using this tool, especially in relation to the threat of a terror attack in the US. A blast in NYC, while quite traumatic, would not begin to even dent the US's overall population. Compare it over time to other causes of death, etc. Makes you wonder why we spend so much to stop it....

I live and work in the Gangnam area, so it seems I'd be OK (even from fallout!!)

Sweet! Guess I'll re-sign my contract for next year. Cool

Never worried about it. Much more likely to be killed in Korea by something like a city bus or a motorbike speeding up the sidewalk.

Probably lots of happy EFL/ESL teachers if Seoul got nuked.

I had been feeling pretty cocky. However when I saw the asteroid impact prediction, that really took the smile off my face (and Korea off the face of the earth.)

Me? I would probably think...."Man, I wonder if I should go out tonight
or not? I probably could pick up a babe or...*" (I've just been incinerated)

Im not sure thats acurate is it?
Wouldnt it depend on where it was exploded? For example 'little boy' was detonated at around 2000 feet so that the explosion would reverberate and cause more damage. Thats why test are conducted under water. So where they land would make a big difference to the blast radius. Seoul is very built up etc etc.

Secondly,
Im not sure the fallout would only be that far? seems a bit tame to me... I think one of the reasons the 'short guy up there' wouldnt drop a nuke may be that he would get the brunt of the fallout. Look at chernobyl, europe and asia got hammered by that

its a fun tool though, but a bunch of crap (possibly me thinks)
