I saw in a Korean restaurant one time (one of those mom n' pop ones) a poster with about 15 images of the most common Korean dishes and calorie numbers next to them.
Does anyone know where i can find this image? Or something similar?

When I was trying to lose a few kilos I got a book from Bandi's and Luni's. It was in the health section and had heaps of restaurant dishes, packaged foods, drinks, desserts, fast food, etc. It was very useful. |

It included calorie counts for typical Korean dishes?
TheUrbanMyth, some of those helped a lot thanks. Holy mother...1050 calories in Samgyetang?! It's supposed to be super healthy and good for hangovers though. Man, that's like half your day's allotted calories. |

Yep. It also gives estimates for whole meals, including several shots of soju, and side dishes. It wasn't that expensive (around 10,000 won, give or take). There were several different books available with different levels of detail. |

True. Though a breakdown of protein/carbs/fat would demonstrate that it's far healthier than 1000 calories of fast food. And 1000 calories of fast food wouldn't fill you up as much. |

Yep. I actually bought two b/c they weren't that expensive.
1) 최신 칼로리북 ISBN 978-89-15-06756-1. It's about 15x20cm, 141 pages and was 6,900 won in B&L's back in April. It's all in Korean, but if you can read Korean, it is still pretty useful. To get the most out of it, you'd need to actually know Korean well too.
2) 쉽게 찾는 칼로리북 ISBN 978-89-323-1095-4. It's about 10x20cm and 175 pages. It was 9,500 won in April. This one has most dish names in English as well as Korean. Everything else is in Korean. |

This is a really good point. I can hit 1500 calories a day easily on just 711 sandwiches and kimbap and even through in an Extra Value set for lunch. But it's pretty unhealthy i think and even if i hit 2000 calories if it's all good Korean food Kimchi Chiggae, Seolleung-tang, it might be better for me. |

A thousand calories is a thousand calories. So you'll have "far healthier" fat--whoo-hoo! |

Sorry to be blunt but you obviously don't understand nutrition. You won't have "far healthier fat". What I meant is that instead of fat you'd have carbs or protein.
1 g of carbs = 4 cal (technically Kcal but follow this).
1 g of protein = 4 cal.
1 g of fat = 9 cal.
Fat equals a lot more calories than either carbs (used for energy) or protein (used to build muscle).
Thus, 1000 calories from a fatty source is both less food and more fattening than 1000 calories from a carb/protein source.
Furthermore, some fats (such as those obtained from nut oil or fish) are much healthier than those from fried foods (saturated fats).
So yes, where the calories come from does make a difference. |

No you don't understand. Where the calories come from doesn't make any difference as far as weight gain or loss. Check out the "Twinkie diet" for proof. |
