My contract is ending soon. I'm planning on staying one last year. I am thinking about cashing in my return airplane ticket. Do you get the full refund? Also, are round trip tickets from Seoul to Vancouver about the same amount as a one way ticket to Vancouver? (Might head back during my vacation). Thanks.

Every airline has their own policy on refunds. Also, tickets usually come with stipulations when they are first issued with regard to refunds, etc. The only way to know for sure is to call the airline and ask.

I did that a couple of years ago (Air Canada, Seoul/Vanvouver ticket) and only got about 350K for the unused portion of the ticket. You won't get 1/2 the value of the return ticket, if that's what you're thinking. And you should do it BEFORE the ticket expires.

Most airlines will slug you a minimum 30% of the refund for cashing in a return portion of a ticket. Did a similar thing to Eunoia with a ticket to Oz and only got 310k. Depending on the airline and the ticket it may not be possible to even get a refund. Check with the airline is the best advice offered. Smile

I wasn't sure what i was going to do after my contract...but i had them put in, instead of a ticket home....they would give me 850,000W try that next time, to avoid the hassle. Smile

My boss just gave me the full amount of my return airfare and gave me the tickets back. I've only been here 2 weeks. I guess I'm lucky.
