So I know every city is different with the sorting and such, but I was hoping someone could help me out with this sorting stuff in regards to Yangsan as I just arrived and am having a little trouble. I have these yellow bags (I think recycling, have city logo on them) and then I have this blue bag, which I think is just an average garbage bag. I'm not sure what's for each, and I tried looking on the city website but that kind of left me more confused, talking about non-inflammables and food waste and volume garbage bags, etc.

So my questions are as follows: Are the yellow bags for recyclables? And I need to sort food waste and non-inflammables separately? Can I put the food waste and non-inflammables in any sort of disposable bag, or does it have to be a certain garbage bag? And the volume garbage bags, I'm assuming thats something for larger stuff that I really don't deal with as an individual? And lastly this might be a dumb question, but if any box or packing material that something comes in has the recyclable symbol, does that mean the packaging is recyclable or the product? Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks!

Ok, I don't know about Yangsan. I will just tell you where I live in Suwon.

We have white bags. These are for your normal trash.

We have yellow bags. These are for your food waste.

Recyclables don't have bags. If you live in an apartment, there are usually bins for each type of recycling (or bigger apartments sometimes have recycling days).

If you live in a house, usually you just set the recycling outside your gate.

Hope this helps some, and I'm sure someone who knows Yangsan will come along.

yellow bags are for non-food-waste trash

for food-waste you are supposed to purchase a particular red bin and then purchase stickers to post on the bin when you want to have the waste emptied. i'm not entirely sure about the process since i've never bothered. shame on me.

for recycling, pick up some cardboard boxes at e-mart and load em up with paper, cans, bottles etc. and put them outside. if i put it out in the morning, i find that it's typically been claimed by the time i get home from work.

hope this helps! welcome to yangsan!

I can only recycle stuff on Wednesdays where I live, which is close to downtown. I just use either an old plastic/paper bag, either one is fine for recycling

Other trash and food waste I can leave every day apart from Sundays. It's a reasonably good system really.

You can pick up a small bucket with a sealable lid from E-mart

Just use the bags your grocery store gives you and throw trash out in the middle of the night.
