For hippies? I use it and will NEVER go back to IE (but it's your choice of course.)
Oh, and I'm not a hippie. |

| Sometimes when I am at work I just can not resist the urge to click on "Nude dry cleaners in Tasmania" or "topless coffee shop in the Sweden" type articles. There is something like that almost every day, and it is always stupid. Always when no one is around of course. |

If you aren't using chrome you are wasting your time, the lot of you. On my ultra-slow work computer it is easily 10X faster than anything else. |

I recommend using a USB stick with Firefox Portable on it.
http://portableapps.com/apps/internet/firefox_portable
Put the file on the USB stick and take it with you to work, internet cafes, hostels, etc anywhere else you don't want your history recorded or risk having your data copied. It doesn't require installation, just boots up from the USB key. It means you can take all your bookmarks, passwords, preferences with you. It leaves no personal information on the computer afterward.
There is a whole suit of portable applications on the site I provided the link to. |

I'm STILL going to wipe the drive after this semester, as maybe the IT dept will "tune up" the comp. Nothing incriminating on there, but I'd rather not have facebook and foxsports.com cookies on there. It's easy, and better to be safe then sorry. |

^^This. OP, I don't think you're paranoid.
Just sounds like you want your business to be your business.
I'm not sure you need to do it everyday though. |

I mainly use Chrome now. The only thing that I use Mozilla for is copying YouTube videos. For some reason I can't do it in Chrome. The only time I use IE is for Korean sites that won't accept anything else. But in short, I agree that IE is terrible.
I'd probably clear the hard drive every once in a while. I used format and reset (from a backup) my personal computer's hard drive every half a year or so (definitely once a year). Not for security reasons or anything like that. I just find that it runs more smoothly if I do so. And it only take about a hour to get everything back to normal after the reset. I like using Norton Ghost. It's fast and easy.
At work, I often use my own laptop. When I use the school's computer, it's only for basic stuff. Still, I'd probably use some kind of cleaning software eventually - but not every day. I just couldn't be bothered. Anyone capable of fishing for your passwords from what's left on the hard drive is more likely to secretly install some kind of key logger while you're out of the office. |

| Why don't you just use the InPrivate browsing function in IE8 or 9, if you have it at your school? It doesn't save any history, cookies or temporary internet files on your computer. Or you can download Google Chrome and use its incognito option. |

good idea for firefox portable, but I've had so many problems moving my usb from computer to computer at school. Many of these Korean computers have viruses that have friend like 5 or 6 of my USBs in last 2 years. I also sometimes forget my USB, so I like most of my info stored on the internet to be accessed at any internet spot. I'll probably try it for one of the USBs where I dont store important files.
And for the OP, I understand what ya saying. Lots of eyes in the office, and even some of the topics Dave's ESL can be seen as offensive to Koreans. I use Crap Cleaner and my work comp's disk cleanup mainly to make my computer run faster though because its slow as . . . |
