I'm trying to move back to Seoul and while my job hunt is doing alright, I want to have a good backup option....lest the jobs I'm going for turns out to be quite shady and I have to bail to my other offers before my E-2 expires.

I know WSI is good, but what others often decent money for people not fresh off the boat.

My friends who went to YBM with experience didn't seem too happy.

Your question would be better answered if you provided a bit more information.

What experience do you have?
Where did you gain this experience?
Is it referenced?
What qualifications do you have?

These are basic questions that will determine your market worth.

As for general terms. WSI does offer better packages to experienced teachers.

YBM can offer better packages but you need to know where to look.

If you have experience, a bigger company with a chain of schools may not be your best choices.

Yeah, avoid YBM like the plague, esp. if you have experience. The split shifts are horrible an the pay is sickeningly low (under 2.0 since they are too cheap to even throw in for housing). Also, the amount of uptight corporate BS you have to put up with on a daily basis is almost unbearable (virtually no sick days or vacation, show up later than 10 minutes before the first class at 7am or you're fired, wear a tie everyday, etc)

I have read very mixed reviews about YBM and actually stumbled onto this thread trying to do some research on a specific branch that I've tentatively placed on my short list of prospective positions. At 2 million won, the salary is low compared to other Hagwon offers I've received. However, housing IS included in the offer. In fact, one of the reasons that I'm giving them serious consideration (or at least enough to research further) is that it's one of the few schools I've spoken with that didn't seem a bit uncomfortable or put off by my request to see photos of the housing. I was promptly provided with photos of both the apartment and the outside of the building in which it's located, as well as information about how far it is from the school, nearest subway line, closest Home Plus and Emart, Central Seoul, etc. Perhaps the branch that I'm considering takes particular pride in the housing it provides--or maybe they're just prepared because the question has become routine as a result of prospective teachers reading all of the crazy hagwon horror stories...I don't know. They also offered to give me the email address of a current EFL teacher at the school, but several schools have actually offered that.

My friend just got an offer from WSI.

It had:
-no housing. option of 10,000,000 for key money or 100,000 a month stipend. outside of seoul same thing, but up to 300,000 (seems counter-intuitive to me).
-min. starting pay of 2.3.
-mandatory saturdays 1-2 times a month.
-etc

Doesn't look that attractive to me. Anyone work there that can share some info? I always heard wall street was good, but the offer looked horrid.

I would go public but even that isn't a guarantee.
