I started P09x this past week, but I'm having a hell of a time following the diet. I'm not a great cook and my kitchen is microscopic, so cooking the meals included in the nutrition guide really isn't an option. Eating out here is also no good, since rice and/or noodles are present at every meal.
Has anyone else here done P90x? If so, what sort of take-out or easy to prep/cook food did you eat as part of the diet? |

My wife and I are doing the exercise program, but not the diet portion.
That said, I have already lost inches off my stomach and the new muscle is easy to see. We are on week 6 right now.
It's a great program. I love it all except the yoga. The yoga is way too long and I get tired of doing the same positions. |

Indeed. I also skipped Stretch X when I was doing it. I am doing Insanity now which I think is a good dollow-up program.
Although I did these barefoot for a while and may have done permanent damage to my knees/ankles. FML.
Be sure to wear quality shoes folks! |

The jackasses who live below me complained to my school when I started doing it. No matter that the people who live above me make LOTS of noise all the time. But they also complaned when I dropped a frozen chicken breast while taking it from the fridge. Thing must have weighed all of 4 ounces.
MOD EDIT |

The couple who live below me are nuts, seriously. I'm burnt on Korean and it's people. Korea is a beautiful country, unfortunately Koreans live here. |

True that. Love Korea...hate Koreans...
Anywho...don't worry about the diet too much. If you stick to the workout and eat healthy, even if it isn't EXACTLY their diet, you'll still lose weight and get in good shape. Just don't eat so much junk food and you'll be fine. |

Unfortuneately losers like that have to come in and ruin the thread.
Actually, I suggest doing the 2-month Insanity program especially if you are more sedintary. P90x will kick your butt and is geared more or less for amateur athletes IMO.
I finished Insanity and am graduating to P90x next week. I lost 2-3 inches off my waistline and down about 10-15 pounds in that period.
It's just an issue to find the bars, dumbells, benches, bands, etc. to use while with Insanity one doesn't need special equpment. It's all cardio, plyometric, and stretching.

I thought P90X was pretty easy relative to Insanity. Maybe you just have awesome cardio. I barely struggle with any P90 routine anymore. Ab Ripper is almost like breathing now. Insanity is constant movement. Always had a small gas tank |

I'm on my fifth cycle of P90X...first one was over two years ago.
If people aren't struggling with it, then they aren't pushing themselves hard enough. I'd suggest adding more weights/ reps to sets in that case.
Do the plyo routine with 2kg weights on each ankle.
Legs and back (today) week 5, most exercises with 15 kg in each hand.
As soon as you can do more than 15 reps of any of the pull up exercises, add ankle belts or weight belts.
Same thing with ab ripper. when it gets easy, add ankle weights.
Best thing about it is the yoga. Twisting half moon, anyone?
As for the food: chicken breasts, egg whites, lots and lots of fresh veggies, esp spinach, kale, swiss chard, broccoli, sweet potatoes.
Give 'er. |

Well, I'm sedentary now, but I used to be a hardcore marathon runner and Crossfit enthusiast. I know that doesn't mean much 2 years after the fact, but I was sort of counting on my muscle memory to kick in. So far, P90x is definitely kicking my arse, but in a good way.

I've gone through 5 dozen egg whites in the past week, and frankly, I'm sick of them. Are you buying your chicken breasts frozen or fresh? That seems like a good alternative to the eggs. |

5 dozen in a week? No kidding , I'd be sick of them too! for me it's usually 5 or six just for breakfast.
I buy my chicken breasts fresh in bulk, then freeze them in packages of four. There are some good deals on gmarket, where I also get my oatmeal.
Good luck with your training! |

I bought a generic one from Lotte Mart that can be installed with two screws into any door frame. It seems solid enough, and only costs 15,000 won or so. |

Hey guys, sadly I have gained a lot of weight since coming to Korea (all damn rice and noodles) I feel gross and recently read about thus program p90x you are all talking about. How can I get my hands on this here in Seoul? Or does anyone have any burned copies! I really want to get back into shape again so i don't feel so gross! If anyone knows how I can get my hands on this program I'd appreciate it! - Faina |
