If your school doesn't renew what documents do you need to procure in order to start applying for other positions? Or can you just start applying without other documents to hand?

Also, how does SMOE go about this? I know it may depend on the school but are they amicable about it all telling you in advance etc or do they tell you last thing?[/list]

Just an apostilled degree if you are transferring to a different work place along with the contract and ID/passport/etc.

I didn't need anything, but passport and ID before September and the new rule changes.

Changing workplaces on an e-2 was fairly easy. Yo can't transfer it to a different type of VISA(like C-4).

SMOE will give you a letter of release or to your new employers....just make sure to get your money your owed(like airfare and severence pay)....

It's a lot easier transferring from SMOE than some shady hagwon....I had zero problems.

Just get somebody on staff to be a reference for you in case an employer asks.

You can find another job. Just understand that it's "jump back into the fire hoping to find a good school and you may find a lemon" kind of thing. Yes, it can happen to any of us.

I'm considering leaving my EPIK job and worried about the same thing. I keep hearing all these different things about the rule changes for next year - some people are saying the FBI bg check is mandatory, some are saying it's only if you're changing jobs, and some are saying it doesn't go into effect until 2012.

What should I do?!

I have already had my degree apostilled and handed it to immigration before this job, are you saying one would need to do this again regardless?

Is the reference letter you are referring to different from the letter of release?

Is the letter of release mandatory if you want to change jobs? Is it for immigration I assume.

Tell me about it mate. Between me and you if this school doesn't renew my contract (not due till next summer) I will need councelling for god knows how many months.

I do everything under the sun for them and it seems that still isn't enough. Just trying to cover my back I guess. You just can't win in Korea.

Immigration doesn't have a database.....I hope you had copies aposttiled....

For transferring the Visa, it require less documents...transferring next year...yeah, you'll need that FBI background check....
