|
|
I went to Camp Kim on Saturday to get fingerprints based on a note here at Dave's. It was easy to find, but they were not there on Saturdays.
So, I walked to the nearby Yongsan Police Station.
I was with a Korean-American woman I work with.
They did my fingerprints, but they were not happy about it.
They told her we should have gone to a police station in the area (-gun, I believe) where we live - not just any station.
They weren't going to do her fingerprints, because she had not printed out the FBI form, and they gave her a hard time about our not going to a local police station and about how they were having to do fingerprints like this until she was pissed off.
But --- when they finished mine - they relented and let her use the computer in the office to print out the form and then did hers. ---
--- They asked while they were printing her if we'd go to the website that recommended going to Yongsan and tell people ------ Don't go there.
Apparently they aren't happy about the increase in people coming to get it done...
Overall, the experience wasn't too bad...We got what we needed with minimal hassle though some hassle...And I've fulfilled a promise. |

You should report this to immigration since it is their policy affecting the police stations, and maybe they will communicate with the police a bit better. |

I thought they should be complaining to immigration and Korean politicians too.
There point was, however, that prints should be taken at the main police station in your area.
Of course, many of us want to make sure the prints won't be rejected by the FBI and there will be minimal confusion when we go in to ask for prints.
I live in a remote area. I have also been told in the US when getting an FBI check for a different job that my fingers are hard to print.
So, I was going to go to a place where they are used to doing fingerprints as a matter of routine every week and hopefully a place where other foreigners have already been to get prints done....
I can see why the police would get annoyed by having to do prints like this.
I can see why we're not thrilled with it too. Especially since a background check in a local police department in the US (for the Americans) will include a check of a national database as well as state-level one... |
