Got a question for you since I have only been researching fixies for a short time now.
Let's say you were going to have someone build you a nice bike in the $1000 range. Would you go Titanium, or use those dollars somewhere else? Where would you shop for cool looking frames, etc, parts. and who would you have put it together for you? Assuming that location isn't limited to Korea.
Purpose: Mainly city riding
Thank you for your input |

I have always wanted to do Ti bike like a cool Litespeed or a Dean but I've never had the money to do it.
If I were you I probably wouldn't go Ti for that price. I would spend the money on a good set of wheels. Also anything bike related in Korea is super expensive. So if you could buy the parts in the states or wherever your from and ship them it might be cheaper. However you might run into big money with shipping.
For the price your looking at maybe you would be better off with a nice steel or an aluminum bike that is already built. Or try to find something used online.
Good Luck |

Thanks for the input J, I was thinking the same thing. I'm going to research this a bit more, but wanted some input. For example, look at this deal they're offering on a Lynksey:
http://www.lynskeyperformance.com/a/pages/frames-_-products/road/titanium-road-bikes---titanium-fixed-gear-bicycle---fixie.php
It's already put together and decent price range (for me) and the reason for that is because I wanted to keep this frame forever and learn on this bike (how to change equipment, etc) I don't want to have to keep upgrading to my dream bike.
I was looking for recommendations though, like parts suggestions, websites to buy parts from, a list of major parts, where to spend more money what areas, etc. |

Without being critical I will ask only, WHY a ti fixie? Ti is better suited for longer distances where comfort is appreciated. Why stop at ti? Get a carbon fiber fixie. Ir save your money, get a clunker adn take a few trips to ti-land (Thailand).
A better question might be why a fixie at all, especially in Seoul? But, I cannot rationally explain all the bike choices I've made over my years of racing and riding either. |

I'm in SoCal (San Diego) and split my time between Yuma, Phoenix, and New Mexico. I might go back to Korea for a year though, haven't decided yet.
On the Ti, well I thought I'd start out with something I can hold on to for awhile before I think about upgrading to a better bike. I'm still doing the research. |

btw that lynksey titanium price is only for the frame. That price would be a WHALE of a deal for a fully built titanium track bike.
Ninja edit: Steel is real!!!
also unless your 5'9" or below, itll be hard to come by a bike that will fit you here in Korea. Buy the frame elsewhere and build it up here if anything |

What about aluminum? Yep, I can buy all parts here in California.

You posted on a bike forum, because I saw your thread last week, or less than that...I can't remember the name of the forums though. I know your thread said you lived in Korea. |

Fixies are cool but be careful, they can destroy your knee joints. |
