i've met a new paramour but i'm so struggling with if it's cool at all!
i dig being with her but is it just a crush...she's much, much younger than me but of legal age anywhere in the world. i'm old you know?
whatever, can you tell me if this is just another fleeting, passionate mere product of my mental invention and of my loveless, lonely overactive imagination or can this be really love?
is it really lovin' time or just another heartbreak? for real, i'm so scared...
anyway, for you? how do you know when it's real, real, really love? |
Please tell me you didn't fall in love with one of your students. It is quite usual for them to flirt with teachers. If you are old, perhaps you have felt love before. There are also many articles about love on the net. |

ONE OF MY STUDENTS! GODDAM IT! NEVER!!! THAT WOULD BE INCEST FOR ME!! OH MY GOD! EVEN THE THOUGHT DISGUSTS ME!
(Disclaimer: if anything, i want to be known as a quintessential teacher and a stand-up human being.)
she lives in the apartment complex next to mine but she might as well be on Mars now! she attends a university i've never heard of as a senior planning graduate school next semester but shes already an expert at breaking hearts.
she was Venus to me but now im loveless and wheeling in space...

My advice to you until you are able to get over your heartbreak- consume yourself in your work.
I know that this advice could hurt a relationship, but it could also help you get over one too.
Being in an environment where you have minimal or no time to think about the situation could help you get over it. Concentrate on your job more and work harder- this is also beneficial in that once you get used to a more vigorous work routine now, you will have your work cut out for you for when you meet 'the next one'.
The thing about Korea; its the kind of place you can get lost in- that was my big love affair with the place.
Although I was faced with a tremendous loss, I took trips, saw movies, went shopping- basically did whatever I could so I didn't have to stay home and dwell on my thoughts.
There is so much a person can do by themselves that staying home and being depressed is not the answer.
I feel for you, deeply.
However, I also see your post as a cautionary tale too, one that many people should listen to VERY carefully.
You see- many people come to Korea (not you in particular, OP) with the hopes of meeting the woman of their dreams. However, they go to Korea, play the field, and when things don't pan out as they expect, they high-tale it out, scorning the place. And this happens on more than one occasion to some. True, there are many love stories, but for many, it is not the case.
I simply want to say to those that do feel scorn at love is to not judge a place based on how lucky they could get.
And if you get knocked down- the best thing to do is to get back up and move on- thats the sad part of life.
Life is funny this way. |

I wonder if its sensible to not think about the future at all in regards to the partner.
With me, the partner is moving back to CA in April, the very month I come back. She'll return but after that year, a year in CA studying, a year in Japan etc. Basically it'll turn long distance inevitably, me being from the UK...
Just dont think about it and it wont happen, that's my advice. |

well, it's over as of yesternight.
i think i could have loved her if she would have hung in there a tad longer. alas, she has blocked my cell-phone number...
you know, it doesn't matter where the crush-bate is from, it seems that they all behave the same way when it comes to breaking hearts. they always just go without notice and when i meet up with them later and ask them why, they all start crying and say it's me not them!
what up with that?
all i want for Christmas is a girlfriend. |

There is a big problem that everybody else @ Dave's sees except you.
You are such a character, you are such a joke. You need to be punched in the face and stabbed in the stomach and taught how to be a man, you have serious problem acting like an adult on internet message board.
In real life, people would never bother telling you because it seems too offensive and to stay polite they disappear quietly and even lied to you it was not their intention to break up with you, but let me point it out for you as your Xmas gift....women don't love man who writes in color and uses lots of emoticons!@$$%$%^&%^&
Merry Xmas. |

I must say loveless I deeply admire your ability to irritate people. It's also impressive you can pretend you're unaware people are trying to insult you. That takes real courage and commitment. You remind me of somebody else on this forum.
Keep up the 'good' work! |

I dont think he irritates anyone here, nobody was trying to insult him either... as a matter of fact, his life has 0.00% to do with anyone else here...I posted the respond because I thought "people who have spinach stuck between their teeth usually have no idea why people laugh at them."---- It was a well-intentioned reminder.
Staying "thick-faced" on internet is really nothing to brag about, maybe its time to raise your standard and admire something else other than yourself. |
