Is there a way to transfer money into your credit card via online banking? My bill gets deducted automatically but let's say I want to top up the limit on my credit card but would rather not make a trip to a bank to pay in person. |

Yeah, but (in my experience) you have to call them and have them either 1) deduct the bill from your account early or 2) beg for a temporary higher limit, if you're say, buying an airline ticket or electronics or a one-time purchase. |

I asked about doing this awhile back (to buy a plane ticket) but was told both by the person on the phone, and by the person in the bank, that it was impossible to pay more than I owed on my c/c to make a future purchase bigger than my limit. The only option was to actually increase the limit by locking away a bigger deposit. This doesn't mean you can't do it (if I'd asked a different person on a different day, the answer might've be different), but I just hit brick walls when I tried. |

on KEB online banking, there is an option for "Advance Settlement" where you can pay the (full) balance off at any time |

Yes, you can pay in advance, but that isn't topping up the limit on your credit card, just getting you back to your original limit...unless I misunderstood the question, which is always a possibility |

Ruthdes: you understood my question just fine:). I was also told I can't "top up" my card past my credit limit, and that I would need to ask for a bigger limit.
And thanks to J.D. for pointing out the "Advance Settlement" option! I played around with my KEB online account and discovered that I can link the credit card to my account - I asked about this months ago and was told it wasn't possible. |

Is the Platinum Expat Card just a charge/credit card linked to your account? |

Ah....always the same story. Never take one no for an answer with Korean banks. I swear to god, half the time they just say no b/c the either can't be bothered doing it, they don't know, and they can't be bothered finding out, or maybe, they can't be bothered doing it in English..(I don't know about this last one. Does the same thing happen to Koreans?).
A bit of advice: If you take your KEB check card o/s and an ATM eats it (happened to me in Spain, 3 days into a three week holiday), KEB won't authorise visa to give you an emergency card (or they wouldn't me, anyway). Always have an alternate way to get money!. |

I speak from experience - talk to a KEB banking manager and explain your situation - in person if possible! Take a Korean with you if necessary for translation. |

You had to give the KEB a deposit to get a "credit card"?"
If you locked away 5million to get given a "credit card" - with a CREDIT limit of 5million, then that is NOT really a credit card, - its just a Visa Debit card.
The KEB offered me one of those and I laughed at them and went and got a REAL "credit card" from Samsung.
The KEB then told me, that if I stayed at the same school for more than one year - they would give me a REAL credit card with no deposit and even a loan if I wanted one. |

I'm aware that it's not the best deal, but it's not a visa debit - I have one of those: it's my check card. But you can't use that for buying stuff online from abroad, and it's not a t-money card, which is the best thing about my credit card.
Instead of basking in your own superiority, how about dropping the sarcasm and telling us how to get a Samsung card? |

Because of that I am not telling you.
If someone else wants to know how to get a Samsung card - they use use this search engine -
http://www.google.com/cse/home?cx=006359271486458796786:_ooozypbm6u (because the topic has been done 100's of times before)
or they can just p.m. me. |

Screw this! I just use my Canadian credit cards. Less hassle, can charge more, higher limits, and I build up my credit status back home. Win-win! |
