Thursday?

I wonder if it will be done through Kies and if the Samsung servers will be able to handle the traffic!?

The funny thing is that Kies worked right out of the box at first - I had the USB drivers installed, then Kies, and all went well until... now there I'm not sure, because I did two things in the same week: update Kies to its last revision (there's also a 2.0 beta version but only in Korean) and root the phone. Dunno if there's a connection.

Typical symptom: The unlock gesture is not recognized, after removing this feature from the phone, the phone is not recognized. No big deal so far; I only want two things: A Facebook Kies fanpage, and an "unlike" button.

Laughing Let me know when you set it up.....I'll be the first there to 'unlike'.

It reminds me of the Sony OpenMG software which was used for their MD players in the early 2000's.....man, that was such bad software that MD players didn't even need MP3 players to kill them off.....the Sony software was doing that by itself!!

My Kies does the "can't connect to the internet" thing every time I hit the update button.......pain in the arse.....

Hardware companies should never write software.

Have you checked your Firewall? I'm using Windows 7 Firewall Control which apparently tells software immediately that there is no internet available (unlike other FWs which give you a few seconds to approve/deny)and I'm having this happen with every bit of software/installer that is new.

There's hardly any phone manufacturer who managed to provide a simple, lightweight and efficient (not to mention effective) software for their hardware Rolling Eyes For instance, Kies does not find any entries in my calendar (which I sync with Outlook and Google) even though I have daily entries for temperature, moon phase etc. in addition to the normal entries. Or what about the backup function for audio and video files; it's either all (which can be GBs) or nothing.

I will start googling for "update Galaxy-S Froyo without Kies" and hope there will be a solution. And, since it's lunch break, I will start with "I hate Kies" in different languages.

This happened to me, but after installing the Korean one (I think you I put the link here, can't remember), I've had no problems at all.

Hey, y'all. I started a thread asking if these Galaxy phones will be able to be used outside of Korea, and nobody answered Sad

My friend is upgrading to the S, and is selling her A version (and offered it to me for cheap). If I leave Korea after my year is up (who knows what life will bring?) would I be able to use it elsewhere if I change the sim card? I'be heard that sometimes Korean phones use "different" sim cards or something.

Any advice would be helpful and appreciated.

Thanks!

A stupid Q.

I lost my cable somehow, can I just get one anywhere or does it have to be specific?

You can get the USB cable in any SKT store. Just say 'USB cable' and point to the slot on your phone. They'll know what you mean.

bought one from an electronics/book store the other day, cost 9000 and is a mini travel style one, the technical name for the cable is a 'Micro USB 5pin cable'

you can get car/wall/usb all in one styles for 10,000+

I bought the car power adapter for the Galaxy S (20,000).......because my wife uses T-Map navigation in her car. It works well enough, but has slightly confusing graphics compared to the Hyundai GPS in my car.

Anyone who gets Froyo first be sure to check in here to let us know how the upgrade went......

At least on my Kies anyway, no Froyo yet as of 1 O'clock.

Hey does anyone know if this release will get rid of those pesky 'flash 9' images that come up on websites? I take that to mean the site requires Flash 10. Hopefully that's the case because even KEB (bank) only comes up with the red 'Flash 9' image. I've been trying all day to get KEB to work on my new Galaxy S either in Korean or English. There's no English support as of yet but I called them and it's coming.

Also, if you're using English windows and trying to install a digital certificate on your smartphone, forget it, it just comes up giberish. Get a Korean to help ya, and you'll need to do it on Korean Windows.
