"Dufus" on IRC in 1992 from our High School computer lab, using a DOS program. "Underwaterbob" was my third nick starting in 1995 or 96. Is there a way to check the age of a Hotmail account? I had mine before Microsoft owned it. Too bad a 14 year old email account is nearly useless because of the ridiculous amount of spam it gets. |

my first online name was 'Michael', for Prodigy internet service in 1987. my family used a pc with a giant modem that dialed quite loudly, and i still remember that even then there were advertisements all over the internet. i'm 24 by the way...
I remember the days where it took upwards of 30 minutes to sign online using AOL... signing in... connecting... connection failed
my mom came up with the ingenious plan of taping the enter key down and simply walking away from the computer until it logged on properly |

You're 24 and you remember the username Michael from 87? when you were not even 2 years of age?
Bearing in mind that humans cannot even begin hoping remembering things from anything before they were three years old, and anything around three years is nothing but a vague feeling at best... How did you still remember so well?
I'm 23 and my earliest memory of the internet was nowhere near the 30 minute loading time days. Though my mum did tell me about how she would make tea, watch tv for a while and then return to an almost loaded computer. |

i misspoke. to tell the truth i first remembered using the internet at god knows what age playing some horrible faux 3d hansel and grettle game on prodigy (probably around five years old?), later asking my parents what year we got prodigy, thats how i know about the 1987 thing. first real memory of computers on aol was using the brand new macintosh to annoy random strangers on AOL in chat rooms, of couse back then you could 'punt' people offline. oh, the good old days...
did anyone else play journey man and 'spiderman cartoon maker'? kid pix? manhole (for mac users) my parents were way into technology |

The earliest one I can remember is Steeple. That's from probably ten years ago on a forum for people with acne. Then I played a computer game called Battlefield 1942, and went under the name Gloom, and posted on the CAL and TWL forums. Now I post here. Koveras is a reversal of Sarevok, who was the villain from the computer game Baldur's Gate. |
