Bucheon is about as good as it gets in Gyeonggi-do. Anyang/Beomgye is nice too but maybe a little further than Bucheon. Gwangmyeong is sandwiched in between the two. It's probably about an hour door to door from each of those places to Itaewon. But if you have an offer for Bucheon, I would take it. It's it's own city, for sure, but not difficult to get to Seoul at all.

Yes, they are in Bucheon!

Anyway, so am I. Although its the only place I've lived in Korea (been here 2 years) I like it and prefer it to living in most places here. Its got a decent foreigner population with some good restaurants and bars.

Bucheon is the nicest city in Korea that I've lived in. In fact, I'd take it over Seoul any day. It's close enough to have the benefits of Seoul, but it's not crowded. It has green areas. Bike paths, shopping, cinemas, restaurants, etc.

I think if you live on the Line 4 part of Anyang it's about the same amount of time on the subway (40 minutes, give or take), to Hongdae and Itae. If you live in the Line 1 part of Anyang it takes longer to take the train into Seoul but is a bit cheaper taking taxis home.

I live in Sanbon, past Anyang, and it takes me less than an hour to get to Itaewon and about an hour to get to Hongdae.

Thanks for mentioning us mavsfan5! Yes, we are in Bucheon, and it's totally awesome. We, too, would pick Bucheon over Seoul. That might be because we're a family (husband, wife, dog) and we live right beside the park, and it's great for us to walk our dog around there.

I've always thought that Bucheon has a great foreigner community as well. People seem to get along together very well here. I happen to really like the coffee shops around here as well. They just have such a great vibe. Hongdae's also like 15 minutes away by bus (if there's no traffic).

Anyhow, if you have any questions about it, send us an email. We've been here for two and a half years so far, and it just keeps on developing and getting better.

Yeah!
