I passed the interview for SMOE, and am getting all my docs in order. My recruiter says that I need a korean background check as well as the FBI one because I've been in korea for a year. Does anyone know how to get this??? The recruiters only advice was to have a korean-speaking friend help me. But the only korean friends i have are at my current school and I wouldn't feel right asking them to help me (especially since a lot of them are upset that I'm leaving for public school). I apologize if this is a repeat thread but the search function doesn't seem to be working.

I had one done last year.

Walk into your local cop shop with your ARC and passport and look around vacantly until someone talks to you. Ramble on for a few minutes and then call a Korean friend to help you. Wait a little while and they hand you a sheet of paper saying that you be okay!

Thanks I think this one of the most honest posts I have ever read. I think I will try this in a few weeks!

Sounds easy enough-- thanks for the info! Anyone know if I have to go to the main gu office, or can I just go to one of the little police stations up the street?

You need to go to the main office, if you do go into a smaller one they'll try to point to in the right direction.
